NEW WORSHIP SERIES
The Book of Acts is one of the wildest books in the Bible. It tells stories and describes events that are so unfamiliar to our lives and experiences as people of faith. There are miraculous prison escapes, appearances by angels, ordinary people suddenly speaking in languages they’ve never learned, rousing speeches that either convince or infuriate huge crowds… and an unwavering sense of hope.

In this series we’ll take a deep dive into the story of the early church and the remarkable spread of the gospel from Jerusalem, to Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. Today, we continue to be God’s witnesses and have a vital role in the continuing story of Jesus’s unstoppable kingdom. Click below to read along with us.

The past UCC Vlog posts featured our Youth on their service learning trips this summer. In case you missed them, check out footage of their amazing journeys!
Our Chi-Rho Service/Learning Trip went to Oklahoma City, OK where they served at a local service agency and a congregation that care for the poor and homeless, while our CYF youth (grades 9-12) traveled to Jefferson City, TN for their service-learning trip! They served at Appalachian Ministries of the Smokies! AMS is a ministry that is connected to Carson-Newman University that does home repair construction, has a food pantry, clothing ministry and a local shelter.
Back To School Retreat
August 5 - August 7 we will be holding a Back to School Retreat for all youth (Grades 7-12)! The retreat will begin on Friday, August 5th at 7:00 p.m.

We also know that some of our youth have events that conflict with this weekend, due to it being so close to the beginning of the school year. We absolutely want you to come for whatever portion that you can! Please just let Alison know when you're coming and going. If you have any questions, email Alison at alison.fitzgerald@uccftw.com

It's going to be a GREAT weekend of getting to know one another and starting our year off on in a fun and meaningful way! Hope to see you then!
Academy 4 Registration is Now Open!
This fall we’ll be back at Alice Contreras Elementary School for the Academy 4 Mentorship program! Academy 4 takes place one Friday afternoon a month during the school year. All fourth-grade students, mentors, and volunteers gather on the school campus during, on the same afternoon, for a fun-filled time of leadership training and relationship building.

An open-hearted church for curious minded people
ONLINE SECURITY REMINDER: Recently a number of local churches have received several reports of members being contacted through email or social media sites such as Facebook by fake profiles claiming to be church staff. Some reminders about online security:
  • Be very careful if you receive messages that sound in any way suspicious or arrive at suspicious times, such as during the middle of the night.
  • Some of these messages contain links that, when clicked, can download malware to your computer. Don't click on any links received through Facebook Messenger or direct messages from Instagram.
  • UCC ministers and staff do not use social media direct messaging to ask for assistance or money.
  • Only give money through secure, trusted sources, and if you are not sure, contact the church first.
