Transport Topics- House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer met on April 27 to discuss possible legislation to reduce gas prices, according to a Democratic aide.

Schumer has been talking about moving a bill that would beef up the Federal Trade Commission‘s ability to stop gas price manipulation.


Commercial Carriers Journal- The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration this week announced it is incorporating certain recommendations from the Household Goods Consumer Protection Working Group into the Transportation of Household Goods regulations.


CDL Life- Michigan transportation officials are working with a tech startup to devote a lane of traffic on a busy interstate to autonomous vehicles.

A twenty-five mile stretch of I-94 running between Detroit and Ann Arbor has been selected for the autonomous vehicle project.

FleetOwner- The U.S. average per-gallon price of diesel fuel set an all-time high this week, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA).

Trucking’s main fuel rose 34.9 cents to $5.509—easily shattering the previous high of $5.25 per gallon reported by EIA on March 14, shortly after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.


FleetOwner- The American Transportation Research Institute has issued a call for motor carriers to participate in their annual update to its Operational Costs of Trucking report.


Participating motor carriers will receive an advance copy of the full report and the new customized fleet report.
