Back to School
"Everything good, everything magical happens between the months of June and August." —Jenny Han

As we find ourselves approaching mid-summer, hopefully having enjoyed a few moments of fun in the sun, and perhaps having finally settled into a rhythm that works, we can see fall approaching on the horizon (perhaps not approaching soon enough for those of us who feel like summer is a parental decathlon!) Nevertheless, fall brings anticipation of exciting new changes—new schools, new teachers, new classmates, and new opportunities to learn, as well as a very welcome cool-down! Fall may also bring a bit of anxiety, as we consider the myriad preparations that must be made to get the year off to a great start. For parents with children who receive special education, anxiety may be even higher, as we anticipate new IEP meetings and goals and numerous other important decisions that must be made for the new school year. Since time is rarely on our side, getting off to an early start is all the more important and may make all the difference in how the year progresses. Check out the articles below for some tips on how to prepare and get organized for the coming school year, so that you can lessen your anxiety and focus more on what is beautiful and exciting about Back to School!

Summer & Water Safety
Introducing special needs children to swim lessons is imperative for acquainting them to the water. If you are hesitant to enroll your child into a regular swim class, start by finding programs that are dedicated to children with special needs. Look into local special needs organizations that may be able to point you in the right direction - The Zac Foundation

Summer Recreation & Travel
The 2022 summer travel season is unique for many reasons. Prices and demand for travel have increased and many families are once again visiting popular destinations. If you are preparing to hit the road in July or if you are looking for recreation options, check out the resources below:
