UCSF Active Threat Information

The recent mass shootings have resulted in an addition to the societal lexicon: active shooter. An active shooter is a person who appears to be actively engaged in shooting or attempting to shoot people in a populated area. These situations are dynamic and evolve rapidly, demanding immediate deployment of law enforcement resources to stop the shooting and mitigate harm to innocent victims. With situations now involving bladed weapons, vehicles, and other destructive means, UCSF Police Department is using the national term: active threat. They have a powerpoint presentation available for review.

This FBI training video demonstrates 3 tactics you can use to keep yourself and others safe during an active threat.

For more information, UCSF students, faculty, staff, and affiliates can log in to the UC Learning Center website and search for "active shooter" or click here to go directly to the active shooter course page (must be logged into UC Learning Center).

It is recommended that you register your personal contact information via WarnMe to opt into updates in case of emergency.

ZSFG offers a Stop the Bleed course to teach the ability to recognize life-threatening bleeding and act quickly and effectively to control it. You can sign-up here to receive notifications once courses are scheduled.
