This award was created in memory of Doug Harvey, an avid Alberta Sporting Clays enthusiast and top competitor.
This award called the "Harvey Cup" is to be awarded each year to someone who displays ” The Spirit of Sporting “.
This person embodies the spirit and intent of the association and serves as an ambassador to the sport. “The award will recognize participation in our competitions, leadership in our sport and for their conduct on and off the course”. Included in the award is a trophy that will remain at the Grand Prairie Club and one for the recipient to take home.
This year they expanded the award to include a Sporting Clays club, which honoured Don, Gwen and Josh Day. The owners and team at Silver Willow, were very touched and thrilled to be presented this award in Grand Prairie on July 16th to Josh Day

BLOG Article - Luther Cutts
|
|
Author: Luther Cutts, Head Instructor (NSCA Level 3) and shotgun competitor
Perhaps the most discussed aspect of shotgun shooting is the manner in which a shooter establishes the forward allowance, or lead, required to hit a moving target. Forward allowance is essentially how far in front of a target the projectile(s) must be directed to account for target movement during the time of flight of the projectile(s) from the muzzle of the firearm to the target. While it applies to all kinds of firearms, in this context we will only be considering shotguns.
