Sixty Seconds with the Superintendent

Each week, we receive questions for the Superintendent from students in pre-K through 12th grade. In this video series, Ms. Beamon will answer these questions and help our families and the community we serve get to know the leader of our public schools.

Spring Break

We want to wish all of our families and SCPS school staff a fun and safe Spring Break! We can't wait to welcome you back on Monday, March 20th.

Elementary Principals Go BIG on Student Incentives

Principal Lindsay Todd of Layer Elementary found herself in a sticky situation after every student had their turn! Mrs. Todd agreed to let her students tape her to the wall if they hit their fundraising school goal. That was all the incentive these students needed to "stick" to the task.

At Forest City Elementary, Principal Joe Avellino agreed to get a mohawk if his students met their fundraising goal! Spoiler alert... Mr. Avellino is sporting a new style these days! The Owls at Forest City even mentioned there is a video...

Evans Elementary Students Get Poetic!

Last week, Mrs. Velazquez’ fifth grade students at Evans Elementary School completed a Poetry Around the Room activity. They identified the theme of each poem, made inferences about the characters, and summarized each poem. This was a great way to introduce their Poetry Unit in a fun and engaging way!

2023 ESOL District World Languages Festival

The World Languages Festival was held at Winter Springs High School on February 25, 2023. It was the 17th year the Seminole County Public Schools ESOL/World Languages Department has celebrated this event. This year's theme was "Celebrate Humanity Through Languages by Leaving Footprints in the World."

World Language classes prepare students to become global citizens. Students in World Language classes learn about other people's beliefs and behaviors as they examine their traditions and norms. Students who are currently enrolled in an ESOL class or World Language class were eligible to participate in this event which included many activities such as a spelling bee, art projects, and drama skit showcase.

SCPS currently offers Chinese, Japanese, Latin, ASL, Spanish, and French. We have 8 Dual Language schools and 2 Elementary World Language programs. The students in these programs showcased their language skills at the event.
