LIVING AND LEADING WITH PASSION AND PURPOSE
As a coach and as a human being, I find that when we don't live and lead from passion and purpose, we can feel like we have lost our North Star. We may even feel like we’ve misplaced the telescope! We rely on that North Star to guide us towards what is most important, and to keep us so inspired that nothing will deter us from our goals.
Without that sense of direction, our inner knowing of who we are we can become uninspired, confused, and unfocused, leaving us feeling as gray and blah as cloudy winter skies.
Neuroscience teaches us that the brain needs focus and direction to filter out distractions and put attention and intention into what we feel is most important to us. The brain needs a compass. And if we don't have that it can be incredibly confusing, and overwhelming, and it can cause anxiety.
In her article in HRExecutive, Dr. Britt Andreatti says:
“Purpose is the driving force that gives our lives meaning. Humans are wired for purpose and in fact, recent discoveries in neuroscience offer a fascinating look into what motivates us to become our best selves. The ability to align purpose is what distinguishes the most effective leaders from the rest, and purpose is at the heart of engagement, productivity, and retention. It’s no wonder that organizations that know how to harness the power of purpose thrive and excel while their peers falter or fail.”
