The designation was only awarded to communities that had the highest possible ratings on consumer satisfaction surveys from residents and families of residents. The surveys took into account ratings on overall satisfaction, safety, care, management and staff, food and dining, activities, cost, and value.

Marketing Office Opens

The marketing office for Green Oaks at Valparaiso has opened and reservations are now being accepted for the affordable assisted living community that is being developed on the west side of Valparaiso. The community will house 120 private studio and one-bedroom apartments for low-income older adults who need some assistance to maintain their independence.

15th Anniversary Celebration

Heritage Woods of Moline recently hosted a 15 Year Anniversary Celebration. The affordable assisted living community located in the Quad Cities has served more than 670 older adults of all incomes since opening in 2008. Especially honored were staff members Amy Fisher, Lead CNA, and Donna Howell, Receptionist, for their 15 years of service. Illinois State Senator Mike Halpin and State Reps. Dan Swanson and Gregg Johnson joined the celebration.

NBC News recently reported on a new study that indicates a growing number of older adults cannot afford their prescription drugs. According to the study, one in five adults 65 and older either skipped or delayed getting their medications in 2022 because of the cost.
