13. For a Church Convention
Almighty and everlasting Father, who hast given the Holy
Spirit to abide with us for ever: Bless, we beseech thee, with
his grace and presence, the bishops and the other clergy and
the laity soon to be assembled in thy Name,
that thy Church, being preserved in true faith and godly
discipline, may fulfill all the mind of him who loved it and
gave himself for it, thy Son Jesus Christ our Savior; who
liveth and reigneth with thee, in the unity of the same Spirit,
one God, now and for ever. Amen.
Province 1 Spring Conference Recap
Episcopalians from across New England met over Zoom on June 7 for the first night of the Spring 2022 Province 1 Conference. The evening of worship and discussion was held in preparation for the 80th General Convention this summer in Baltimore, and the recent changes in dates and format of General Convention in response to the Covid-19 pandemic added to the depth of conversations.

Province 1 President Bishop Doug Fisher opened the Conference with a reflection on the ways his ministry was increased by being part of the Province, and the hopeful signs arising from our provincial collaboration across New England. The Honorable Byron Rushing, Vice President of the House of Deputies, addressed the Conference on the history and meaning of General Convention. The night also featured Zoom breakout sessions for the General Convention Deputies from Province 1 to meet together and share ministry priorities in advance of General Convention, as well as to share reflections and concerns about the ways the format change impacted their work together. Hope was also expressed, hope in the work of the Holy Spirit, and in the ways this General Convention might impact the future of the Episcopal Church.

Conference attendees who were not General Convention deputies also met in small groups to share updates from their ministry areas, reflect on the upcoming General Convention, and connect as Episcopalians from across New England.

On the second evening of Conference, the Bishops and Provincial Delegates met to hold the election for Province 1 Lay Representative to Executive Council. Betsy Ridge Madsen was elected, and further business was deferred to a future meeting of the Province 1 Conference. Stay tuned for date announcements for a Fall 2022 session of Provincial Conference!

Education for Ministry (EFM) is a program to develop reflective practitioners of Jesus Christ. EfM offers the faithful and the curious an opportunity to encounter the breadth and depth of the Christian tradition and bring it into conversation with their experiences in the world. Seminar participants study, worship and engage in theological reflection together in a weekly seminar format over 36 weeks.

EfM Seminars are facilitated by mentors who are trained in the process of leading the seminar and facilitating theological reflections. Karen Byers (Diocese of Western Massachusetts) and Steve Isham (Diocese of Vermont) co-mentor this seminar on Zoom. Both are experienced mentors and are trainers in the program. Bringing Gun Violence to Prayer in our Diocese
Saints James and Andrew, Greenfield

Ringing for Remembrance
On the last Sunday of the month, our worship will begin at 10 a.m. with the clergy sharing the number of people who have died from gun violence in the last month. The congregation will then remember, grieve, and pray as the church bell is rung in remembrance of all who have died. Our data is collected from the Gun Violence Archive. We invite other congregations to join in this initiative, and ring your bells with us.
