IT'S AUGUST, AND THAT MEANS ARTS MONTH IN WAUPACA!
|
|
August is our "big month" at WCAB. Even though we are almost always up to something, things really culminate in August with ARTicipation Week and Arts on the Square. And we are super busy because this year, in addition to the Summer Nights Concerts, we have an Artsy Bus Trip (still 3 seats available!) an Art Opening at the Library Exhibit Room for the Hub, and the following month, we head in to the Bach Festival! It's intense! We couldn't plan all of these events without the enthusiasm and delight of you, our community. Thank you for taking deep dives into the arts in Waupaca! We are proud to be part of this community, where everyone is creative! So, read on, for more details and links on our events, as well as so many others in Waupaca! And, Happy Arts Appreciation Month, Waupaca!!!
The Galway International Arts Festival, which Arts on the Square strives to emulate, always has an aspect called "spectacle." This year, they had gigantic pink giraffes wandering the streets of Galway Ireland, with an opera singer. GO HERE to see a video of this incredible spectacle, and dream big, Waupaca!!!
ARTicipation Week is a collaborative event! In addition to financial support, so many come together to help put on this eclectic festival...if you have a chance, please thank them!

WCAB's Waupaca Local Live August Show
During ARTicipation Week
Featuring Mile of Music favorite
Natural Satellite
Special Time: 5:00-6:00 pm
|
Love and music: two things that have been at the very center of Karli and Jason’s relationship since the beginning. Karli, a classically trained cellist, met Jason Reisdorf in 2011 while attending the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point (UWSP). They quickly fell in love. After earning their music degrees, they moved to the Fox Valley in hopes of creating a new life for themselves. Jason, a talented saxophonist, had no problem immersing himself in the Fox Valley’s bustling music scene and was soon performing in a number of groups. Karli, however, was unsure of herself as a musician and decided to focus her attention on other interests. It wasn't until Karli found herself in a deep depression that she began regularly playing her instrument again. She started writing songs as a way to heal, process, and explore her innermost feelings. After showing Jason a few of these songs, the couple began writing and creating together. From there, Natural Satellite was born.
Since then, Natural Satellite has released three EPs of work titled “From Ash,” “Peace of Mind,” and “So Blue.” The duo blends the genres of indie, pop, folk, and jazz into a truly unique and refreshing sound.
|
|
Since it's ARTicipation Week, you can enjoy the Waupaca Local Live show, and then bop on over to Little Fat Gretchen's for a post show Super Set with Natural Satellite! Enjoy Beverages and desserts while listening to this world-class duo, performing from 6:30-8pm!
GO HERE to listen to Natural Satellite's music. Trust us, you will be amazed.
We seek to bring local and regional musical excellence to the airwaves!
