May is Mental Health Awareness Month. We are facing an unprecedented mental health crisis. At Habitat CFC, we work with our families to ensure that they are aware of services that are available if they need it. Many People of Color in urban areas are denied access to quality healthcare based on their race. According to The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Fact Sheet: Celebrating Mental Health Awareness Month 2023, they have expanded access to mental health services in early childhood settings by supporting mental health initiatives including providing paid mental health consultants, professional development, and other support for child-care providers. They are also providing grants to train graduate level behavioral health clinicians to serve individuals in high need in underserved communities.
We build brand new homes for eligible low-income working families. We want to ensure that those families are healthy. Many families in our urban communities are suffering from trauma. The root of urban trauma is often poverty and racism. I am thankful to those who donate their time, talent, and treasure to lift marginalized families out of oppression and give them an opportunity to create a better life for their families. I often hear from donors and supporters that God has blessed them, and they want to bless others. Thank you for being a blessing!
This month is also Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month. During this special month, we recognize and honor the incredible contributions made by the Asian American and Pacific Islander community to our local community and to Habitat CFC. Thank you, Asian American and Pacific Islander community members, for your unwavering support, dedication, and all that you do to help us build homes, communities, and hope. Together, we are making a difference, one family at a time!
At Habitat CFC, we put God’s love into action by bringing people together to build homes, communities, and hope. Thank you for continuing the journey with us!
