News From our partners
Town of Ladysmith: OCP Review survey seeks feedback on draft vision, goals and growth directions
The Town of Ladysmith has identified a draft vision statement, goals and growth directions for the new Official Community Plan (OCP) and is now seeking the public’s feedback as we continue moving forward with the creation of this important policy document.
An OCP is intended to help manage growth and development in a way that meets community goals. The document can influence how people experience their town, including where you live, shop, recreate and as well as your transportation choices.
The community-wide engagement for the OCP Review has so far involved participation and input from hundreds of people voicing their opinions on the future of Ladysmith.
We now invite you to review the draft vision statement and goals below. The draft growth directions can be viewed on our website.
Please share your impressions by taking a brief online survey before Sunday, May 8, 2022.
Participate in the development of the Cowichan Internet and Cellular Connectivity Strategy
Internet speeds and cell connectivity matter to your business. Whether you’re running an e-commerce website or communicating with your team in the field, you need fast, reliable, and affordable solutions, and we want to help. Economic Development Cowichan (EDC) is developing the Cowichan Internet and Cellular Connectivity Strategy that will be the roadmap to better connectivity for the whole region.
Over the next five months, EDC and consultants IBI Group will review the current state of internet and cellular infrastructure and services available in Cowichan, and engage with the community to uncover our collective vision for the future of connectivity for the region. Armed with this information, we will develop a strategy to meet Cowichan’s connectivity needs. We will also identify communities within Cowichan that are particularly underserved, so we can take a deeper dive into solutions that fit their unique circumstances.
We need your help to make this project a success! We’re hosting a Virtual Open House on April 28 at 6:30pm where we’ll look at the current state of connectivity in Cowichan and uncover why connectivity is important to people in our region.
