This week we're presenting Hera Gallery, Copley Society of Art and Cape Cod Museum of Art.
These three juried shows gather talented artists from New England, the United States and beyond to explore different themes, from motherhood to the concept of "emergence." No artist approaches a theme the same way, and these shows are an example of the breadth of talent and imagination on display in the region.
Listings and advertisements for the July/August 2023 issue are due on Thursday, June 15.
Make sure to update your Artscope Magazine App in the app store and leave a review to get the complete experience for our May/June 2023 issue, out now!

Hera Gallery presents Oh, Mother a national juried exhibition that brings together 27 artists to analyze "motherhood in all its complexity, as well as at the absence of desired motherhood," according to the Hera Gallery website. Juror Nadiah Rivera Fellah, associate curator at the Cleveland Museum of Art, was fascinated by the way each artist "challenged familiar or expected archetypes of motherhood with frank openness, pain and outrage, wry humor, empowered representation, and sometimes a combination of these elements." The gallery is open Wednesday to Friday, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Hera Gallery is located at 10 High Street, Wakefield, RI. For more information, please visit here. | |

Copley Society of Art presents Emergence: Art from MFA Boston Staff, which highlights the artwork of 37 artists who are employed by the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. The juried show gives these artists the opportunity to interpret the theme of "emergence in either a physical or conceptual sense." From etched images of leaves to oil paintings of still lifes, the artists take the reigns to interpret this theme. The gallery is open on Tuesday to Saturday, 11 a.m. - 5 p.m., and Sunday and Monday by appointment. Copley Society of Art is located at 158 Newbury Street, Boston, MA.
