Greetings!

Are you interested in presenting at the 2022 FAEA Annual Conference in October? We encourage you to share your talents and expertise with fellow art educators by submitting a proposal. Session proposals are now being accepted up until May 8, 2022. Visit the conference pages on the FAEA website to learn more about how and why you should present at conference!

Now that the spring semester is coming to a close, it is time to start planning for summer professional development. FAEA has several offerings this summer that are accessible to members throughout Florida, including a virtual workshop. You can view the information for each summer workshop on the FAEA website. Register today to secure a spot!

The end of the school year is also a time of reflection. Each year, FAEA recognizes individuals and organizations that have demonstrated exemplary service to the field of art education. If you know a colleague or friend that you believe should be recognized for their contribution to art education, please nominate them for an FAEA Award. Submissions for award nominations are now open and will be accepted until May 31, 2022. Check out the FAEA website to view the awards.

We're excited to announce the winners of the 2022 K-12 Student Art Assessment & Virtual Exhibition! You may now view the winners and the 2022 virtual exhibitions on the FAEA website. All participating teachers have been sent their students' scores and certificates in the mail.

Help support art education in Florida's schools by donating to FAEA! With your support, FAEA will continue to grow its programs for teachers and students, strengthen united advocacy efforts, and improve your professional development opportunities. Donate today and make a difference! In addition to donating via your FAEA account, we have added a new way to support FAEA: AmazonSmile. When you shop at https://smile.amazon.com/ch/51-0182663, Amazon donates a percentage of your eligible purchase price to FAEA, and there are no costs to the association!

Now is the time to renew your FAEA membership for the 2022-2023 school year. All current FAEA memberships will expire on June 30th of this year. Renew your membership today to ensure you will continue to have access to FAEA's events, resources, and opportunities this fall and next spring.
President's Note
Greetings!

Well, April is upon us, Spring Break is behind us, and we are now moving into one of the busiest times of the year. Most of you are working on art shows and exhibitions, preparing students for their IB Presentations, and final touches to their AP Portfolios. It is really a time when you can see the fruits of your teaching and commitment to your students over the past year. It is a time to celebrate the growth and development of your students and their accomplishments! Many have been accepted into exhibitions and won awards and scholarships, but ALL of your students are the beneficiaries of your efforts. Don’t forget that your students’ accomplishments are also yours; they wouldn’t have gotten there without you!

Speaking of exhibitions, the K-12 Student Assessment & Virtual Exhibition has been juried, the exhibition is open for viewing on our website, and winners have been selected! You can view the Exhibition and winners here.

I want to thank all of you who entered students into this prestigious state-wide exhibition. One of the most important aspects of this program is the feedback teachers who entered artwork receive. The rubrics used for judging are posted on our website. Teachers receive a list of the scores their students received and this information can help to inform teaching strategies and improve outcomes for your students. Just entering the exhibition is an accomplishment that indicates your commitment to your students. To view the rubrics and get more information on this program visit the FAEA website. Also, look for the Assessment Training we provide at our Annual Conference in the fall!

Great news! Our Summer Programming is ready and is open for registration! The workshops we have planned for you are located around the state, and we also have a virtual workshop, too. Be sure to register early before spots fill up!

Finally, I want to remind you that you can show your love for FAEA in new and exciting ways! If you want to become a contributor or donor, it is easy! One of the best ways to “give” is by doing a “Birthday Fundraiser” on Facebook. This is easy and is a great way of telling others about FAEA and helping us provide the highest quality programming for art educators around the state. You can also donate on the website where YOU can choose where you want your gift to be used!

Enjoy the rest of the spring and please remember to take time for yourself!
