Today, civic participation occurs at many levels. We make impactful decisions about our community every time we make a purchase, vote, post on social media and, of course, volunteer. We think any awareness we can bring to the many resources that might spur individual action for good, falls right in line with what we’re up to at HandsOn.

Celebrate Memorial Day

As you reflect on the men and women who have lost their lives serving this country this Memorial Day, look out for the community events this weekend to honor those we've lost:

Visit the Military Veterans Memorials around the Valley - Visit the landmarks around the city that pay respect to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice

Get physical and complete the Murph challenge - It is the 10 year anniversary of the Murph challenge to honor LT. Michael P. Murphy and raise money for the memorial scholarship fund in his name

A Day at the Museum - Head to the Heard Museum this Memorial Day to recognize the service and sacrifice of our US Military Veterans. They have a lineup of family-friendly activities, live music, and demonstrations from talented veteran artists

Volunteer at STEM Camp

HandsOn Greater Phoenix is hosting a 4-day Summer STEM Camp for 4th- 6th graders at Guerrero Elementary, and we need your help!

We are looking for individuals who can commit to supporting small groups of students June 12th-15th for the morning shift 8:30am -11am or the afternoon shift 11am -1:15pm.

Want to help, but can't make all 4 days of STEM Camp? Become a 2023 STEM Camp Judge!

STEM Camp Judges will report to Guerrero Elementary June 15th, 11:30am -1:30pm. Judges will evaluate four or more student projects in two different learning tracks and celebrate student learning.

Furry Friends with Forever Loved Pet Sanctuary - Help senior dogs while they wait to find their forever homes! Come out to Forever Loved Pet Sanctuary to walk, feed, groom, play, and clean the furry friends. Second Saturdays 8:30am-10am

Arts and Crafts at the Salvation Army - Help lead a craft project for kids at the Salvation Army Emergency Family Shelter. Bring the family too as volunteers ages 10 and up are welcome! First Tuesdays 6pm-7pm

Referral Opportunity

Girls Rock! Phoenix is a nonprofit organization that empowers girls and gender nonconforming kids through music education, creation, and performance. They are looking for volunteers both with and without musical experience to help in various roles during their summer camp.

Ways you can help: Gear and instrument maintenance, volunteer coordination, band coach (musical experience preferred), band manager (no musical experience required), camp planning (logistics, organizing, programming), hospitality (check-in/out, food and refreshments, set up/break down), gear team / roadies, instrument instruction, and mental health and first aid.

Camp Volunteers Week 2 Work with 8-12 year old campers, June 26-30

Girls Rock! PHX is looking for help with loading and unloading supplies on the Saturdays before and after the camp. A great team building opportunity!
