HISA ANNOUNCEMENT ON IMPLEMENTATION OF SAFETY RULES - Ban on Pin Firing Delayed

HISA yesterday made an announcement concerning the enforcement of the Safety Rules that go into effect July 1, 2022. HISA will delay the enforcement of the ban of pin firing shins; it will become effective with the foal crop of 2022. In addition, the prohibition on pin firing and freeze firing only applies to shins. Blisters are still prohibited and enforcement on that ban begins July 1, 2022.

"We are gratified that Lisa Lazarus and HISA are listening to the comments and concerns of the horsemen and women in these important areas, and we will continue to work with her and her team to make this process as seamless as possible for the owners and trainers of South Florida," FTHA President Joe Orseno said.

Also included are details of the process for transferring records on claimed horses and an update on enforcement of vaccination requirements. The HISA Announcement is below.
