Hear my voice when I call, LORD; be merciful to me and answer me. My heart says of you, “Seek his face!” Your face, LORD I will seek.
-Psalm 27:7-8-

Watch a child, a young child, hiding from her father. Sometimes she hides behind her tiny hands; the closet is too dark. Other times, she simply buries her round little head in the cushions of the couch; the basement is too scary. Still other times, the precious child will hide only half of her little body around the corner peeking out to make sure her daddy is still actively looking for her. Before the father can even say "I found you", she looks up and giggles, she has been found! Children love to hide and be found. Jesus loves to seek, and to be found.

In the most remarkable way, our Lord came to us as a human. God in the flesh, fully human yet fully God! Jesus came to seek and to save. After finding Zaccheus, Jesus said he “came to seek and save the lost.”

Our Jesus loves to not only seek, but also to be found. Justin Rossow states:

“The same Father who found you loved being found by you. The same Spirit who seeks you loves being sought by you. The same Jesus who came looking for you loves it when you keep your eyes peeled for His activity in your life.” *

Jesus loves to seek and to be found and he is never, ever hiding, but sadly we do. We think God doesn’t want to find us - we are too sinful, too dark, too scary, too hidden in our sin. We want to hide just like Adam and Eve, utterly ashamed. Not much has changed. God doesn’t want you to hide from Him, He wants you to seek him with all your heart. I have really good news, the Lord is never hard to find because He was never hiding from you, in fact, He came to save you.

Prayer: Merciful LORD, when we want to hide from you, remind us that you never ever stop seeking us. Thank you Lord for never hiding from us, our hearts say, “Seek his face!” Your face, LORD we will seek. AMEN

Join us Sunday as we seek Jesus in The Story, chapter 9 where Ruth has faith, and God blesses her with a redeemer. See you Sunday, I can’t wait!

*“You follow me.”, Justin Rossow, Next Step Press 2009
The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
