Daily Lenten Offering

The gifts he gave were that some would be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until all of us come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to maturity, to the measure of the full stature of Christ.

Ephesians 4:11-13

Holy God, teach me to claim my gifts with pride and gratitude, without making me haughty and selfish. Remind me that my spiritual gifts are for the common benefit of all. Amen.

Yesterday was a lot of learning! Today we put that insight and wisdom into practice. In the podcast, Robert Waldinger advised us to “never worry alone.” This is both reassurance that it’s OK to worry when worrying is warranted and an invitation to be more intentionally in community.

Reflect

Take a moment in reflection. Think about a time when your emotions got the better of you. What triggered your reaction? How do you wish you had responded? How have you repaired that relationship?

Big Emotions

The following video (for kids and useful for all ages!) offers good information and strategies the next time we have big feelings. It's only 5:29 long.

This “Feelings Thermometer” was developed and is copyrighted by Mental Health Center Kids. We purchased copies for church.

If you are looking to explore more wisdom from yesterday's podcast, Dr. Robert Waldinger introduced the W.I.S.E.R. model. Learn more at Big Think:
