The Florida Department of Economic Opportunity Activates Business Damage Assessment Survey to Evaluate Impact of Hurricane Ian on the State’s Businesses
The Florida Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO) and the State Emergency Response Team (SERT) activated the Business Damage Assessment Survey in response to Hurricane Ian. Survey responses will allow the state to expedite Hurricane Ian recovery efforts by gathering data and assessing the needs of affected businesses.
“Under Governor DeSantis’ leadership, DEO is committed to supporting preparation, response, and recovery efforts of Florida businesses, communities, and citizens impacted by Hurricane Ian. The business damage assessment survey assists DEO and its federal, state, and local partners in those efforts,” said DEO Secretary Dane Eagle. “I encourage businesses impacted by Hurricane Ian to complete the Business Damage Assessment Survey at FloridaDisaster.biz.”
On September 24, 2022, Governor Ron DeSantis issued Executive Order 22-219 declaring a state of emergency in all 67 counties in the State of Florida. All affected businesses should complete the survey.
Results from the Business Damage Assessment Survey will be shared with various federal, state, and local agencies to implement appropriate relief. Businesses can complete the survey online or visit FloridaDisaster.biz and select “Hurricane Ian” from the dropdown menu. If you need additional assistance with your business, please call 850-815-4925 between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. or email ESF-18@em.myflorida.com.

SBA Federal Disaster Loan Assistance Available to Businesses and Residents of FL affected by Hurricane Ian on September 28 - Availability and features of low-interest disaster assistance loans:These long-term, low interest rate loans help survivors rebuild, get back to business, and make property improvements that eliminate future damage.
SBA is a disaster survivor’s long-term federal recovery partner. The loans enable people to repair, rebuild or replace their damaged or destroyed real estate, machinery and equipment, inventory, and other business assets. We can help with uninsured and underinsured losses, along with insurance deductibles, gap insurance, debris removal, fences, mitigation, storm shutters, house-raising, many things for which insurance does not normally provide protection.
There is no need to wait for settled insurance claims, potential FEMA grants or contractor estimates before applying. We encourage survivors to apply as soon as possible—and there is no obligation if they change their minds later. It’s important to know that low-interest federal disaster loans are for HOMEOWNERS AND RENTERS, plus businesses of all sizes, non-profit organizations, faith-based organizations, small aquaculture businesses, and small agricultural cooperatives impacted by the storms. All can apply for their uncompensated losses – i.e., their insurance wasn’t enough to complete their repairs, or they didn’t have insurance.
Attached, please find the SBA documents for this disaster (2022 11 3 -FOCE Press Release, FL 17644 Fact Sheet 2022_11_10, and 3-Step Process Trifold) that provides further details of the SBA loans available for those who experienced losses from Hurricane Ian.
Applicants may apply ONLINE, under SBA declaration # 17644, using the Electronic Loan Application (ELA) via SBA’s secure website at DisasterLoanAssistance.sba.gov/ela/s. Applicants may also apply IN PERSON at the following Disaster Recovery Centers: TRINGALI REC. Are you familiar with the differences between criminal records accessed from privately compiled databases (often sold online as "instant criminal records") and original source criminal records obtained directly from county, state, or federal repositories? Privately databased records are subject to shortcomings, including currency, accuracy, thoroughness, misidentification, and Fair Credit Reporting Act compliance. However, if properly verified, they may be useful as a starting point, a quick check, or when cost is an issue. For FCRA-compliant employment and tenancy screening ... contact Doris Hebert-Ferrigno at NRG Background Checks. 941-488-8500; 800-531-6522; nrginfo@atlantic.net
