DOE announces $96 million for advancing clean vehicle technologies to reduce carbon emissions
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) in July announced a $96 million funding opportunity to support decarbonizing the domestic transportation sector. The funding will focus on expanding electric vehicle charging accessibility, create cleaner non-road vehicles through electrification and the use of alternative fuels, and develop electric drive components and materials to maximize EV efficiency and affordability. Non-road vehicles, including agricultural and construction equipment, rail, marine and aviation, are a major source of pollution, emitting more carbon pollution than any other sector of the U.S. economy.

Survey: As gas prices remain high, more Americans plan to buy electric
As gas prices continue to remain high, many Americans said they plan to go electric when it comes time to buy a new vehicle. A new national survey by AAA shows that a quarter of consumers plan to go electric for their next vehicle purchase, more specifically, a fully electric, not hybrid vehicle. The most common factor is to save on fuel costs. The survey also revealed that some are hesitant to make the switch, over concerns relating to the vehicle’s range, purchase price and availability of public charging options.

Opinion: Education key to sustainable transportation adoption
With access to information about anything you could possibly imagine literally at our fingertips at any given moment of the day, it can be hard to imagine how misinformation has become so rampant. It is why it becomes so important to check the source of the information. Is the person an expert in their field published in a credible business publication or is it the opinion of your cousin’s high school prom date in a Facebook post? When it comes to issues of sustainable transportation, misinformation runs rampant as well. There are myths about job loss, affordability, strain on the electrical grid, compromising food crops for fuel and more. The list goes on and on.
