New Network Members - Welcome!
Founded in 2016, Tzedek DC is committed to safeguard the legal and financial interests of DC residents with lower incomes who struggle with significant debt and credit-related problems…

Drawing from the Jewish teachings of “Tzedek, tzedek tirdof,” or “Justice, justice you shall pursue,” their mission is to safeguard the legal rights and financial health of DC residents with low incomes dealing with the often-devastating consequences of abusive debt collection practices and other consumer-related issues… Tzekek DC offers direct legal services at no cost to DC residents with low incomes facing debt- and consumer-related legal issues. They are also able to provide legal assistance free of charge through their partnerships with the UDC David A. Clarke School of Law, community groups, and individual lawyers and law firms.
Selfhelp provides a broad set of services to more than 20,000 elderly, frail, and vulnerable New Yorkers each year, while remaining the largest provider of comprehensive services to Holocaust survivors in North America. Selfhelp offers a complete network of home care and community-based services with the overarching goal of helping seniors live with dignity and independence and avoid institutionalization. Selfhelp was founded in 1936 to help those fleeing Nazi Germany maintain their independence and dignity as they struggled to forge new lives in America. Today, Selfhelp is one of the largest and most respected not-for-profit human service agencies in the New York metropolitan area, offering services throughout New York City and Long Island.

The Blue Card's mission is to provide direct financial assistance to needy Holocaust Survivors.

Of the nearly 3000 Holocaust survivor households The Blue Card serves, three-quarters are over the age of 76 and nearly 70% live alone. Many of these survivors struggle to afford basic needs, such as adequate food and healthcare; more than half of them fall 200% below the federal poverty line, meaning their income is less than $24,980 annually.

As these men and women age, they are plagued with the consequences of surviving the most devastating conditions imaginable, including poor nutrition and minimal medical care.

Dignity was forcibly taken from them during the Holocaust, and now they are vulnerable once again. The Blue Card provides direct financial assistance to ease the financial burdens and ensures that its clients don’t lose their dignity once again, in their last years. Click here to learn more.
