REACTING TO RECORD COLD WEATHER

This past Saturday recorded the lowest temperature in Seattle in over a decade. Although there was a scare early last week of snow, Seattle was spared the snow and ice our neighbors in the Portland area received. We spread deicer overnight Thursday and early Friday morning due to wet parking lots and sidewalks but dry weather followed for the entire weekend into today. We monitor and prepare for the worst and then deploy and treat as the weather requires. Although Seattle avoided the snow and ice, there is a chance of snow or freezing rain Tuesday.

We are monitoring the forecast and will update clients this afternoon on our strategy to prepare and potentially deploy for snow or ice. HOPEFULLY, after Tuesday the cold will be gone and we can get back to our winter landscaping priorities.

OREGON AND SW WASHINGTON HAMMERED BY COLD AND SNOW

Our Team Orange partners in the Oregon and SW Washington branches tackled snow, ice, and biting winds all weekend, spreading deicer and gravel, and clearing snow. The temperatures reached single digits and gale-force winds made the work very challenging but our team fought through it. They have the threat of freezing rain Tuesday as well so will remain on high alert.

The high wind also took down and broke branches out of many trees. We have already begun that clean-up and hope we do not get the freezing rain predicted as that could cause even more damage. We will be cleaning up landscapes for weeks.

Stay safe out there!
