Hello everybody!
Congratulations to the 77 young people from our community who were confirmed last Thursday! It was wonderful to welcome Archbishop Shelton as our presider for the liturgy and to see the enthusiasm of those confirmed with their families and friends. Special thanks to the sponsors, catechists, teachers, and staff for the efforts in supporting our young people in the process of preparation. Confirmation may bring to completion initiation in the family of the church, but it’s not a graduation. It is the beginning of a lifelong journey. God bless them all!
This weekend, we will be celebrating the Rite or Acceptance and Welcoming at the 11:00 a.m. mass for our catechumens and candidates as they, likewise, continue their journey toward baptism or entrance into full communion with the Catholic Church. May they continue to grow in relationship with God and others as they take this next step of their journey.
Thank you for your participation and generosity to this year’s Catholic Services Appeal. We are doing better than last year at the same point and our school participation contest started this week. I appreciate the enthusiasm and sacrifice shown by so many. The CSA makes a real difference in the lives of others and for our own community. Thank you! If you have not yet made a commitment, please consider doing so. Although we are currently running behind Holy Trinity and St. Bernadette parishes in participation, we have the opportunity to leapfrog them by December. We can do it together!
Finally, I did have my follow up with my surgeon for the partial knee replacement today. The wound has healed well and my recovery is actually a couple of weeks ahead of schedule. I am truly grateful! I have returned to a limited ministry schedule this week and next. Thank you for your patience and your prayers as I get back into a more regular routine. I have missed you and am thankful for all of those who have helped during this time. As a number of you say to me regularly, “I am doing better than I deserve.”
My prayers in the month of November are, in a special way, with all of those battling cancer. During my recovery, I have also held in prayer those who struggle with physical limitations. May God be with and bless us all.
Peace,
Fr. Jeff
