The New Building is Nearly Finished
St. Luke's Episcopal School in Martel, Haiti is on summer break after a very successful school year. Eighty children finished their classes and passed their exams. What an example of tenacity and fortitude that these children and their teachers can concentrate on their studies in the midst of food insecurity, gas shortages and kidnappings. It also shows how much they value education.

Above is a photo of vacation bible school in Martel.

Also you can see the progress we are making on the new classroom building. This three-room building will allow us to expand the school, adding 7th, 8th and 9th grades. Father Phanord says we will be able to receive a special designation as a fundamental school from the Haitian Department of Education when we have these higher grade levels.

Our prayer continues to be that God will bring to us the people and resources to accomplish God's will. We believe it is God's will to expand the school. So far, we have raised $71,000.00 toward the completion of the building. Thank you to all who have contributed.

We need only $9,000.00 more. Please consider making a donation. Every dollar helps. We hope to have the building finished in time for the beginning of the school year on September 5th.

If your parish has contributed, please consider making a personal contribution. If you've made a personal contribution this year, please consider making another one. And if you want to send us a check for $9,000.00... well that would be an answer to our prayer!

You can donate through Zelle (haitiangoodsam@gmail.com) or PayPal (@newyorkhaitiproject) or by sending a check payable to the Haitian Church of the Good Samaritan. Our address is 1858 Hunt Ave., Bronx, NY 10462.
Worshipping God

Church is such an important part of life in Haiti. July 10th was the "feast" of the Good Samaritan,. Good Samaritan Episcopal Church in Bondeau pictured above, celebrated with 14 priests and parishes from all over Haiti. Saint Luke's Episcopal Church in Martel was there, and their choir sang during the service. It is a testament to the fidelity of these Episcopalians that, with astronomical gas prices, they made the sacrifice to come together to worship God. Over 1,000 people were in attendance in Bondeau.
Partner visits
I was privileged to preach and talk about the New York Haiti Project at All Saints Episcopal Church in Briarcliff Manor. We are hopeful that they will become our newest partner parish, joining 16 other parishes. Together we are bringing hope to a part of the world where hope is in short supply. Thank you Kevin Veitinger for your hospitality!
God bless you dear friends,
for your continued support of our work in Haiti.
