A Pastor’s Appointment Service

Dear Ministry Partner,

In this newsletter, I would like to share with you a story of Pastor M – the South Hmong Coordinator. Pastor M graduated from Bible College in the Philippines a couple years ago with a desire to be a full-time minister as an educator. Many people and even government officials, equate the term "minister" with a local church pastor. Furthermore, if someone serves God but does not pastor a local church, they may be viewed with suspicion by both individuals and local authorities. Additionally, working with an unlicensed non-governmental organization in Vietnam is a delicate matter. Therefore, we suggested that he consider pastoring a church. Presbyterian Churches of Vietnam (PCV) is a licensed organization where Pastor M is serving God and his leaders wanted him to take care of a church in central Vietnam.

From Pastor M:

Last September 2022, a pastor resigned from ministry due to his health problems. The Board of Committee of PCV recommended that I take care of this church. After 3 months of praying, my wife and I decided to pastor this church starting in February of 2023. I am glad, because I am supported by local officials and the local church. However, all my personal documents that need to be submitted to authorities are still in process. Whenever my documents are accepted, I will officially be a pastor of this church. As a recognized pastor, it should allow me good opportunity to travel and train other leaders in different locations.

Your prayers are appreciated for Pastor M as he takes on this new position. May God give him favor in front of the local authority, believers, elders, and deacons.

Thank you for your prayers and support.

Testimonies

"I would like to praise God for giving a chance to be trained by CCI in northern Vietnam. Traveling far away from my hometown was not comfortable for me, however, 10 days of training was worth it to sacrifice my personal pleasures. I have learned a lot of valuable lessons from the first 4 subjects of my CCI training. And it is challenging for anyone who wants to do ministry effectively. I was impressed so much by Book#1: Bible Study Methods and Principles of Interpretation. This was my first time studying systematically. This helped me understand the value of learning God’s word and handling it better. Moreover, this program helps me to love God’s word and to read it daily. I praise God, for He is equipping and preparing me for the ministry among my tribe. I can’t wait to meet my classmates in northern Vietnam and to be trained in the next class."

"I would like to thank the Lord for opening the door for me to study His word. Book#4: Preaching and Pastoral Ministry is one of the most important subjects that helps me prepare my messages. I love my CCI teachers who taught me diligently and patiently so that I can comprehend the methods. I believe that my teaching and preaching will never be the same."

Prayer Requests & Praises

  • We praise God that the first CCI class, which was taught in the Hmong language, is going to graduate on July 12, 2023.

  • A CCI staff member is going to marry a CCI student this July 29. We request your prayers for the wedding that will be officiated by CCI staff.

  • Please continue to pray for the CCI classes in the south and the north of Vietnam. Especially for the many pastors who are not familiar with our curriculum and for the geographical distance, which causes a lot of challenges. Pray for God to provide for their needs and protect them as they ride motorbikes on steep, rocky, curvy, and slippery roads.

  • The Vietnam National Director is planning to build a Bible training center, Christian book company, and Christian library in central Vietnam. It will cost at least $52,000 with a 2 floor building. Please pray for provision and guidance.
  • The staff of CCI Vietnam is looking forward to the Global Conference to be held in Thailand in November. Many would like to go, but do not have the money to buy plane tickets. Please pray for God’s provision for this. If you feel led to help, please click the button below. Thank you.
