Construction Update | 6-13-22

Progress made on 6^th Street SW over the past two weeks is as follows:

Water main installation on the west side of 6^th Street SW going south from Wilson Avenue to 27^th Avenue
Clearing and embankment work in the ravine between Evergreen Packaging and Altorfer Machinery
Pavement markings placed to shift traffic to the east half of 6^th Street, resulting in a single travel lane in each direction. This pattern will remain in effect until all underground work and placement of the first two layers of asphalt on the west side are completed.
Milling of remaining asphalt on the west half of 6^th Street was completed this past week

In upcoming weeks, concrete curb-and-gutter will be constructed for the northwest and southwest intersection radii at 6^th Street and Wilson Avenue. Curb-and-gutter will also be constructed along the west side of 6^th Street to the proposed new driveway for Evergreen Packaging, opposite the Cherry Drive intersection.

About the Project

The 6th Street SW project stretches from Wilson Avenue to 33rd Avenue, and includes new asphalt, utilities, traffic signals, sidewalk, and transition from four lanes (two lanes each direction) to three lanes (one lane each direction with dedicated turn lane). Remaining project work is scheduled for completion in 2022.
