What are winters like in Ohio!!

The Winter Forecast for Ohio 2023-2024 indicates some notable changes from previous years, largely influenced by the transition from La Niña to El Niño weather patterns. Here's a breakdown of what Ohioans can expect in the upcoming winter months:

Temperature and Precipitation Outlook

  • Transition to El Niño: This winter marks a shift from the La Niña pattern of the past three years to an El Niño winter, characterized by warmer ocean waters near the equator. This change typically affects the overall weather patterns across the globe, including Ohio.
  • Temperature forecast: The Climate Prediction Center forecasts above-normal temperatures across the northern United States, including Ohio. The best chances for warmer-than-normal conditions are in the Northeast, Pacific Northwest, and upper Great Lakes states.
  • Snowfall: Over the last 18 years, the average snowfall in the Ohio River Valley has been around 33 inches. For the Winter of 2023/2024, snowfall in the Ohio River Valley is expected to be in the range of 25 to 35 inches, with locally higher amounts in hilltops and higher terrained regions.

Do keep yourself warm and meet friends or come to university to keep you motivated in these temperatures.
