Where Would They Be Now?

Greetings to you all in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ! We are halfway through the year and God continues to bless the community of Kamonkoli through Hines Ugandan Ministries. You are all such a vital part of our team and we are so thankful for you. We are so excited to see God working in the lives of these children as we watch them grow in joy and confidence as we meet life sustaining needs as well as prepare them for a meaningful future. Most importantly, many are growing in their faith in and knowledge of Jesus.

Cathy is one example of the children we are serving. She has never known her mother and was raised by her father, a fisherman, for the first 4 years of her life, before he abandoned her with his parents. Her grandparents struggled financially and were involved in domestic violence in their home. Life was very difficult and Cathy had little hope for her future. She had nowhere to go and would likely be given in marriage at a very young age, continuing living in poverty with little love, as happens to many impoverished girls in the Ugandan culture.

Four years ago, Pastor Charles and Judith, who are key staff members of HUM, took Cathy into their home. She is thriving in this loving home and enjoys knitting and reading story books. She is growing in her faith as she loves Sunday school and Awana Club. Cathy is a good student at our Genesis Primary School and is also learning a Biblical world view there. This little girl endured much in her young life, but her world and her future have forever changed to the glory of God.

We are thankful to Pastor Charles and Judith for loving this girl and caring for her every need. Cathy is in her final year of primary school at Genesis and is looking forward to graduating to high school in the beginning of next year. We would like to bring her into the sponsorship program to cover the cost of her education and other needs.

Though he suffered many losses in his young life, as a young man Silver continues to love the Lord and trust in Him to provide. He is an active church member and enjoys singing in the choir. Silver was orphaned as a young child when his father committed suicide and his mother died from a snake bite. His older sister took him in and cared for him for some time until she was killed in an accident. Silver has been living with his elderly aunt who has no income to support him.  Sponsorship has made a huge difference in Silver’s life, offering him care and hope for a future.

A Big Thanks to Our Prayer Warriors

Thank you to all who faithfully prayed for us this past month. God has been faithful and many prayers were answered. Laura and Godfrey’s wedding was a joyous celebration, while Elizabeth and James delivered a healthy baby boy. Please continue to pray for these young couples in these milestones of lives. Christine continues to recover from her back injury. Thank you to all who faithfully gave in June, as May was unprecedently low and this helped us cover those shortfalls. Please continue to think of us in your giving over the summer when gifts traditionally dip just a bit.

Funding Needs

>>Linen Drive: We provide linens to our sponsored children, both in their homes and to take to boarding school. It’s time for us to stock up and replace some of these items which include, sleeping mats, sheets, blankets, pillows and towels, for those who need them. Your gift of any amount will help us be ready to meet these needs as they arise.

>> High School fund to help our students whose fees have risen. $50/student.

>> Genesis School stoves $4,000 still needed.

Give Now

Silver had little schooling in his early years, so he has been old for his grade since he became sponsored through Hines Ugandan Ministries. This bright young man has now made it to college where he has begun his studies in pharmacology. We are so grateful for the many years of sponsorship he has received, but his sponsor is now unable to continue. He will need a new sponsor to finish strong, to escape the cycle of poverty into which he was born and become a Christian leader in his community and country.

Please visit our website at www.hineskids.org if you would like to help meet the needs of Cathy or Silver or other children we have waiting at this time. We celebrate and praise God for the many children whose lives have been forever changed through sponsorship in the first 24 years of this ministry. He makes all things possible and we are grateful that we and you can be a part of it all. Thank you all for your sacrificial generosity and your faithful prayers.
