Online Advent Calendar - Adventskalender

"Exceptional Christmas Markets"

The Saskatchewan German Council is excited to announce the launch of the 2023 Online Advent Calendar. Starting on December 1, you will have the opportunity to discover 24 amazing Christmas markets in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Luxembourg, and Canada, including Saskatchewan.

Each day, you will learn about a new market, its history, German traditions, and get inspired to try some German Christmas recipes and Christmas crafts.

To make your Christmas experience even more fun, the advent calendar also includes interactive games and quizzes for kids and adults as well as prize draws.

Get ready to discover the magic of Christmas markets! Take me to the advent calendar!

Advent Wreath Display at Nutrien Wonderhub

We are thrilled to announce that our member group Kulturgarten Saskatoon has handcrafted a beautiful Advent Wreath that will be on display at the Nutrien Wonderhub in Saskatoon. The wreath will be available for viewing from December 4 to December 17, 2023, and we invite families with children to come and see this masterpiece.

The Advent Wreath is a traditional symbol of the Advent Season to celebrate the four Sundays leading up to Christmas. Johann Wichern is credited with making the first Advent Wreath for his orphanage in 1839 to count down the days until Christmas - one candle for every day during advent.

To make your own advent wreath, watch our YouTube tutorial.
