City of Hagerstown Dedicated ‘Everyone Wins’ Mural
The City of Hagerstown held a dedication ceremony for the “Everyone Wins” mural on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at 1pm in the 300 block of West Washington Street.
The mural, at the railroad overpass is the 26th unique piece of public art in the City, furthering the effort to make Hagerstown a destination for public art enthusiasts. This vibrant and thought-provoking mural replaces the deteriorated “Be Colorblind” mural, while striving to advance the message of inclusivity that the original mural started.
The “Everyone Wins” mural project was funded by a $20,000 “Public Art Across Maryland” grant from the Maryland State Arts Council. The City recognized the Public Art Commission for their vision to select Donald Ely, a Maryland artist, who modeled the images depicted on the mural after submissions by Hagerstown residents who wanted to be part of collaborating with Mr. Ely to promote this invaluable message through his amazing creativity and conceptualization.

First Washington County Annual
Juneteenth Author Showcase
Hagerstown, MD -- On Saturday, June 11, the Maryland Black Chamber of Commerce will partner with The F.O.C.U.S (Fun, Opportunity, Unwavering, Success) Trainer to host a Juneteenth Author Showcase. Seven African American authors who reside in Washington County, Maryland will be showcased. The youngest participating author is 12-years old. The showcase will be held at The Meeting Room, located at 11377 Robinwood Dr, Hagerstown, MD., 21742 from 2-4:45 PM.
At the conclusion of the showcase a symbolic "Walk of Freedom" will be held. This walk (from The Meeting Room, 11377 Robinwood Dr, Hagerstown, MD., 21742 to Eliz Lounge, 11353 Robinwood Dr, Hagerstown, MD., 21742) will be in remembrance of those who lost their lives pursuing literacy during periods of persecution. Participants will walk as a community and come together for what is being called the Celebration of Freedom. The Celebration of Freedom will offer attendees the opportunity to fellowship while supporting Black-owned businesses from the surrounding community.
Juneteenth is the celebration of the emancipation of enslaved African people in the United States. During the American Slavery Era, the punishment for a person of color who even attempted to read a book was death. This Juneteenth event will showcase the progress people of color have made as a nation and to pay reverence to those who dared to learn to read and write while putting their lives at risk.
This event is free and open to the public, but reservations are encouraged and available through Eventbrite - Juneteenth Author Showcase at The Meeting Room.

The Maryland Theatre presents
The Lettermen
Original Date Friday, March 4, 2022
This show has been postponed to Sunday, June 12, 2022
| |
For more than 50 years, The Lettermen-- Donovan Tea, Bobby Poynton, and Rob Gulack, each of whom are entertainers in their own right—have kept the meaning of harmony alive with their soft, romantic, harmonic blend of music which is as popular with their fans today as it was in 1961 when they recorded their first hit, “The Way You Look Tonight”. Though musical tastes have changed over the years, The Lettermen legacy continues. Harmony will always endure the true test of time—just as The Lettermen have stood the test of time. | |
