It is Day 3 of Foster Care Awareness Month and we need to keep making noise.

Sometimes we don't speak out about an issue because we don't think it directly affects us or the people we love. But we promise you, this does. People who have experienced foster care are all around you - you just may not know it.

Your coworker

Your child's teacher

Your doctor

Your delivery driver

Your friend

Please join us in raising your voices for them.

All of them.

Here are 3 simple ways you can help us make noise:

Grant a wish.

And tell people about it.

When you find a wish that resonates with you, share it with the people around you. Post it on social media, email and text it to friends and coworkers. Assume no one knows who we are or what we do and how much more joy there would be if they did. So, tell them!

Talk about foster care.

Our friends at FosterMore have a ton of great videos, stats and stories that encourage you to donate your small talk so more people can become aware of the impact foster care has on millions of people everywhere.

Follow & share.

Our Instagram is the best place to see what we're up to and witness the impact your gifts are making. This May will be sharing so many powerful stories and we need you to make sure they are heard.

Thank you so much for using your voice,

Danielle & The OSW Team

INSPIRING WISH ALERT: Meet Daniela

This beautiful young woman entered foster care as a baby, was adopted at 3, and then reentered the system again at 14 after her adoptive family was unable to handle the challenges she faced as a teen struggling with addiction and mental health issues. From 14-17, she was in and out of over 13 different placements in California and, after trying to return home to her adoptive family, she was placed back in the system again. It was then that Daniela entered an independent living program and became determined to create a better future for herself. She is off probation, over two years sober and the proud mother of a wonderful baby boy. She is also a full-time student and a fierce advocate for children's rights. Daniela is asking for support to attend The Black Mother's March on May 14th in Washington DC. Daniela wants to be there to advocate for herself, her community, and most importantly for her son, by promoting the safety and welfare of black children. $2,100 makes this trip possible and covers airfare, hotel and meals. You can donate all or any amount here on or through Venmo at OneSimpleWish or online at onesimplewish.org/bigwish.

NOTE: Any funds raised above the goal will be used to further our amazing mission in accordance with our terms and conditions.
