Last month Brianne visited the Imagine Van Gogh immersive exhibit in London. She thought all of the paintings were amazing, and especially loved her favourites, Starry Night and Sunflowers. The paintings are projected onto walls and screens, and some of the projections move around.
Brianne had a wonderful time, and hopes to visit more immersive art exhibits in the future!
Imagine Van Gogh is on in London until January 2023. We've linked the site below for more information.

Last Chance to Submit Your Application for the Evaluation Committee
|
|
Are you interested in helping us improve?
One of the next steps in the agency’s evolution of supports and services is to create a committee to oversee the evaluation of agency initiatives and transformation efforts. The Committee will help to determine whether agency goals are being achieved, what is working and not working, and the reasons why. The Committee will contribute to the development of evaluation strategies and tools, comprehensively analyze data, report findings, and make recommendations to senior leadership.
We are looking to include people served, families, direct support professionals and Admin/HR employees.

As the mother of three adult daughters, one with complex challenges, I continue to question my parenting skills past and present. Did I make every effort to positively recognize the uncertainties having a sister with intellectual disabilities had and has for her two sisters?
By ensuring each of them was given her own special time they grew up knowing that they were unique and that their contributions to our family unit were recognized and celebrated.
By showing each of them that they were different while at the same time showing them that they were alike in more ways; they understood that they needed each other. They became caring and accepting siblings.
This thoughtful approach has allowed my daughters, all three of them, to accept others as they find them, realizing that each of us, no matter our ability, is a gift.
If you have ever wondered how best to assist your children, young and old, to create a family unit that values everyone; the link below, with views of siblings whose lives include siblings with intellectual disabilities, is a must read!
Even though the link below may seem to be directed to younger siblings, the strategies can apply to any age.
Most importantly, siblings need each other! Help them to understand how truly special they all are!

Federal Disability Inclusion Action Plan Survey
|
|
This project is funded by Employment and Social Development Canada.
|
|
In September 2020, the Federal Government in the Speech from the Throne announced the Disability Inclusion Action Plan (which includes four pillars) to improve the lives of people who have a disability in Canada. As part of this work, many national disability organizations have been doing work to inform the government’s strategy. This survey is a part of that process. This includes the work on the Canada Disability Benefit.
The DIAP project leads for all 4 pillars worked together to feed into and create a joint survey on: Financial Security, Employment, Disability Inclusive Spaces, and Modernizing Federal Government Programs and Approaches to Disability. The survey is fully accessible and has been translated into plain language, French, and ASL/LSQ. There are 40 questions, and it will be open until November 14, 2022.
Please consider taking some time to complete the survey (as an ally or as a person with lived experience) and please share this survey as broadly as you can.
