UCSF RAP Family Support Award
Applications are due by February 27
The RAP Family Support Award proposals are intended to help researchers maintain research productivity in the face of significant but temporary time commitments related to significant family caregiving needs. The funding, ($40,000 in total costs), will provide supplemental support to assist with addressing gaps in research productivity (e.g., obtaining preliminary data for grant submission, PI salary to support research activity both on projects or for grant writing, research personnel or research material support to enhance productivity, to aid grant proposal preparation tasks, etc.).
UCSF Faculty with >50% appointment in any series (Ladder Rank, In Residence, Clinical X, Health Science Clinical, Adjunct) in all ranks (Instructors, Assistant, Associate, Full Professors), are eligible to apply. Junior faculty applicants need to have a mentor who is appropriate for the planned research activity.

UCSF CPR3
Applications are due by February 28
As a joint program between UCSF, the California Health and Human Services Agency, and the California Department of Public Health (CDPH), CPR3 plans to fund UC-wide research that brings together UC investigators, public health experts, and community members in order to help inform and guide future pandemic recovery and readiness efforts for the state of California.
Dr. Priya Shete and the CPR3 team have recently released requests for proposals seeking California-focused pandemic recovery and readiness research related to two priority topics:
- The COVID-19 pandemic’s impact on children and adolescents
- The COVID-19 pandemic’s impact on mental health
These funding opportunities are open to all UC investigators. Three award types ranging from $100,000 to $300,000 are available. The submission deadline for applications is February 28 at 6pm PST. See CPR3’s Funding Opportunities page to learn more.

UCSF Diabetes Research for Equity through Advanced Multilevel Science Center for Diabetes Translation Research (DREAMS-CDTR)
Applications are due by April 24
The DREAMS-CDTR invites proposals for preliminary research focused on health equity that will provide pilot data essential for planning future diabetes translation research K award and R-level awards by Early-Stage Investigators. All proposals must be aligned with the primary goals of diabetes translation research, which are to improve the effectiveness of diabetes care and prevention by making evidence-based practice more consistent and widespread, and to further our understanding of what works most efficiently to accomplish this translation.
Applicants must be an Early-Stage Investigator, have a doctoral degree (e.g. MD, PhD, DrPH), and currently be primarily affiliated with one of the DREAMS-CDTR institutions (Kaiser Permanente Northern California, UCSF, UC Davis, UC Merced, Stanford). Any individuals with the skills, knowledge, and resources necessary to carry out the proposed research are invited to work with his/her organization to develop an application for support.
Pilots are funded by NIDDK through the DREAMS Center. The submission deadline for applications is April 24 at 5pm PST. For application instructions and additional information, click here. Call for Affiliate Faculty
UCSF PRISE Center Invites Faculty to Affiliate
The Partnerships for Research in Implementation Science for Equity (PRISE) Center is a new Center at UCSF whose mission is to advance health equity through community partnerships and transformative implementation research. Current PRISE Center research focus areas include digital health equity, addiction and mental health, clinical and public health systems strengthening, infectious diseases (HIV, TB and COVID-19) and climate change and health.
The PRISE Center is announcing a call for affiliate faculty. Please consider affiliating if you are UCSF faculty (all levels welcome) and conduct research, training and/or career mentoring that incorporates implementation science methods to further health equity.
Affiliate faculty will join a network of PRISE Center affiliates from other academic institutions in the U.S. and globally that are utilizing ImS research methods to further health equity. Affiliates will also be invited to PRISE Center seminars and events. There is no major time commitment or expectations for affiliate faculty.
Click the button below to fill out a brief survey by January 31 if you are interested in affiliating with the PRISE Center. Please contact Leah Murphy, PRISE Senior Program Manager, with any questions.

PRE-Proposal Application REview Program
| |
DOM PREPARE Program
Requests for grant reviews are accepted on an ongoing basis
If you have a quick turnaround for a proposal, don't worry, we'll do our best to accommodate your timeline. See what one PREPARE participant had to say about the process:
“The reviewers were well matched to the application and provided very valuable feedback on my application. I really appreciated the quick turn-around time to find reviewers and schedule the review, which typically takes much longer. The fact that reviewers are paid seems to incentivize participation and facilitate a high-quality review. Thank you!”

New NIH Data Management and Sharing Policy
Effective January 25, 2023, prospective NIH grant and contract applications will be required to include a two-page data management and sharing plan outlining how scientific data will be managed and shared. Although many are already sharing summary level data, for example with clinical journals, the new policy requires sharing of individual participant-level data. To view videos and slide decks about the new policy; visit https://sharing.nih.gov/about/learning.
Grant applications or contract proposals with receipt dates on or after January 25, 2023 must include DMS Plans that address all six Elements of a Data Management and Sharing Plan (NOT-OD-21-01) if the proposed research will generate scientific data.
Helpful resources that may be useful for you:
