FIREWORKS REMINDER

Despite the State of Ohio passing legislation to allow fireworks on certain dates, please remember that in most cases it is still illegal in most Painesville Township neighborhoods to discharge fireworks, even on the allowed dates.

Below are some of the most pertinent regulations regarding where and when they can be discharged for the 4th of July holiday in the state and Painesville Township. As you will see, because of the law, the discharge of fireworks is likely still not permitted in most residential neighborhoods in Painesville Township.

The Following restrictions still apply:

Fireworks shall not be discharged within:

~150 feet of any spectators

~150 feet of any structure

~450 feet of railroads

~300 feet of any healthcare, residential care or educational facility

~on any street, highway, alley or public roadway

Allowed Dates and Times:

July 3, 4, and 5, and the weekends immediately before and after

Between 4 p.m.-11 p.m.

June 30, 2023 was the last shift for Chief Frank Huffman. After 30 years of dedicated service to the residents of Painesville Township, Frank took his last ride in Ladder Truck #2739; a truck that he successfully wrote a grant to get funding for. Thank you Chief for your dedication and service to Painesville Township. We wish you a happy and long retirement!

Welcome to Chief Eric Burchak

Eric began his service with Painesville Township in late April. He brings 30 years of fire industry experience with the Cleveland Fire Department, and we are delighted to have him join the Painesville Township family.

Raised in a small town just outside of Hickory, North Carolina, and a graduate of Lakewood High School, Burchak is looking forward to returning to a close knit community with the small town feel of Painesville Township.

Eric is married to Joan, a retired Cleveland Firefighter. He has one son, Jarret, who is also a Cleveland Firefighter, assigned to Engine 36, in the Mt. Pleasant neighborhood.

Please help us welcome Eric to the Painesville Township family!
