Business Recovery Summit & Expo

Your Guam Chamber has planned a Business Recovery Sumit & Expo on Friday, July 7, 2023, from, 8:30 am - 4:00 pm at the Hyatt Regency Guam to provide companies with information about the state of the economy as Guam recovers from Typhoon Mawar. The summit will help businesses and industries plan and forecast for the future in light of the state of the island after the typhoon as well as provide updates on restoration efforts to date.
The program will feature an economic forecast panel (state of the economy, tourism, construction, and real estate) a telecommunications update panel, a utility update, and an industry recovery panel as well as a table-top exhibit opportunity.
The exhibition portion of the event will feature representatives from various industries and government support services that will provide one-on-one assistance for businesses in their recovery efforts and answer inquiries and questions. This event will additionally assist participating exhibitors with an opportunity to match their services with other companies.

Disaster SNAP Program
Extended til Saturday, July 1, 2023
On Tuesday, June 27, 2023, Pubic Health and Social Service announce the extension for the Disaster Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program. D-SNAP provides financial assistance to low-income households that have experienced food loss or damage caused by a natural disaster. D-SNAP extension will start on Thursday, June 29, 2023, through Saturday, July 1, 2023.
When applying, residents are encouraged to bring items to help them feel comfortable waiting in line, such as portable chairs, umbrellas, snacks, and drinks. Click here to view press release.

Disaster Recovery Centers Operational on July 4 Holiday

FEMA Disaster Recovery Centers are accessible facilities and mobile offices you can visit to learn more about FEMA and other disaster assistance programs. Guam residents with losses caused by Typhoon Mawar are able to register for federal disaster assistance. The deadline to apply for FEMA individual assistance is July 27.

SBA Tops $13 Million in
Disaster Assistance Loans for Typhoon Mawar
Director Tanya N. Garfield of the U.S. Small Business Administration's Disaster Field Operations Center-West announced on Monday, June 26, 2023, that SBA has approved more than $13 million in May, 22 - 29. According to Garfield, SBA has approved $694,900 for businesses and $12,693,900 for residents to help rebuild and recover from this disaster.
"SBA's disaster assistance employees are committed to helping businesses and residents rebuild as quick as possible." Businesses and residents in Guam who sustained damages are encourage to register prior to July 27 deadline with the Federal Emergency Management Agency at www.disasterassistance.gov. Don't miss out on any assistance you may be entitled to but not registering for help.

Public invited to Freedom Rock Festival on U.S. Naval Base Guam - Polaris Point
The public is invited to the Freedom Rocks festival scheduled for Tuesday, July 4, 2023, at U.S. Naval Base Guam (NBG) - Polaris Point. The gate will be open for public access at 4:00 pm. A military ID or visitor pass is not required for access.
During the Freedom Rocks event, there will be live entertainment by The Pamela Hopkins Band present by Armed Forces Entertainment. Local entertainers include Pop Rocks & Soda, Pacific Cool, and Hafa Adai fire dance show. The event will also feature bounce houses, games, activities, food trucks, and vendors.
The fireworks display will be launched at 7:30 pm and would last approximately 10 minutes.
The following are examples of prohibited items: Drones, weapons, personal fireworks,back-pack, grills, glass containers, coolers, large bags, tents, recording devices (audio or video), outside alcohol, pets, rollerblades, skateboards, and roller-skates. Marijuana and other drugs are also prohibited on military installations.

Donation Drive For Zero Down Community
The US Coast Guard Guam Spouse Club is seeking donations for the subdivision in Yigo that was devastated by Typhon Mawar. Consider how you can help them rebuild their homes. Any donation would be greatly appreciated.

Family Movie Night is back
At the Agana Shopping Center!
Our member, Agana Shopping Center, will be putting on a family movie night on Saturday, July 1, 2023. The movie will be shown at 7:00 pm and will take place at their parking lot, the movie that will be playing will be Turning Red. Popcorn will be available for purchase. Don't forget to bring chairs and/or blankets.
