NECC News: July 2023
Happy July, NECC! We are excited to share this month's scoop on upcoming events, our summer schedule, and even a new Fitness & Movement class. From refreshing pool nights at our Friday open swim to a diverse range of fitness classes, we have something for everyone. Dive in and explore what's in store for you this summer at NECC!
Upcoming Dates: 

Celebrate Pride with the NECC!
Are you looking for a fun way to celebrate Pride? Come walk with us on July 16th in the Portland Pride Parade! This is a family friendly event where we'll be walking a mile together through downtown Portland in celebration of LGBTQIA2S+ liberation.

As a pre-parade celebration, join us at NECC on July 15th from 11:30 AM to 1 PM in the gym, for sign-making and music. Stay tuned for more details and RSVP Here! 🌈
End of Summer Facility Closure & Staff Break
Each year, in order to maintain our excellent water quality, we close the pool at the end of August to drain and refill it. Continuing the tradition from last summer, this year we will be utilizing this period to provide our staff with a well-deserved break by fully shutting down the center. The NECC facility will be closed from August 28th to September 4th.

Swim Competitively this Summer!
We still have spots available in our summer swim club and some of the advanced swim levels.

Our summer Swim Club is a fun-tastic opportunity for your young swim enthusiasts who are itching to get in the pool this summer, make new friends, and have the opportunity to compete in swim meets!

Meet the NECC Staff!
We are delighted to welcome one of our newest staff members, Adrianna! As a skilled lifeguard and swim instructor, Adrianna brings a wealth of experience to the NECC community.

When she's not working the water, Adrianna finds joy in book hunting at local libraries and spending time with her furry cat companion, Teeny. And now, as summer approaches, she can't wait to make apple cider with her grandparents and partner. Welcome, Adrianna!

Celebrating our Village Volunteers
The Northeast Village recently honored the amazing 95 Village Volunteers who make the NEV and all of its work possible.

The event, held at the Historic Alberta House, was a fun festivity full of tasty food and friends celebrating each other's volunteer work. Volunteers support their fellow villagers in many different ways: from transportation and tech support to yard maintenance and administration.

July Fitness & Movement

NEW Class Alert! Start your morning with our new Energizing Pilates class on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-7am. This uplifting workout will stretch and strengthen your muscles and leave you feeling energized and ready to rock out the rest of your day!

Our Drop-In Sports schedules will be shifting slightly for the summer. Click here for details on changes to Pickleball and Basketball times.

Thank you to everyone for bringing in donations for our summer campers! We are so well stocked now that we are no longer taking any more donations.

We are so grateful for the abundant amount of fun items we received! Because of all of you, every camper will have the tools to make imaginative creations this summer. We can't wait to see what fun creations they create! 🌞
