Episcopal Youth Camp

Date: June 11-17, 2023

Where: Camp Alexander Mack

Cost: $500 ($470 per additional sibling)

The Episcopal Diocese of Northern Indiana Summer Youth Camp is offered for students entering 3rd-9th grades in the 2023/2024 school year. It is held at Camp Alexander Mack in Milford, IN on the shores of Lake Waubee. Each year the planning team designs a special curriculum centered around a theme intertwining biblical teachings and modern day experiences.

The 2023 fee for the week at Diocesan Youth Summer Camp is $500 for one child and $470 per child for additional siblings. This year we are asking that all balances be paid no later than June 1. This is to cut down on the amount of items we are collecting at registration and to simplify the drive-thru process. You can pay this balance via PayPal or by sending in a check. The check must be received in the EDNIN office no later than June 1. Balance reminders and links to pay via PayPal will be sent out near the end of May. If you are in need of assistance with camp fees we ask that you first contact your parish priest or administrator to request help with funds. After contacting your parish, you may request assistance from the Diocese by emailing the missioners for camping.

It's All About Love: A Festival for the Jesus Movement

Episcopalians everywhere are invited to register to join a churchwide festival of worship, learning, community, and action July 9-12 at the Baltimore (Maryland) Convention Center.

It’s All About Love: A Festival for the Jesus Movement” will open at 7 p.m. Sunday, July 9, with a revival worship service featuring Episcopal Church Presiding Bishop Michael Curry. It closes at noon on Wednesday, July 12, following a festival Eucharist preached by House of Deputies President Julia Ayala Harris. The Rev. Mariama White-Hammond will preach on July 10.

Kwok Pui Lan, dean’s professor of systematic theology at Candler School of Theology, will speak during the July 10 morning plenary on racial reconciliation; Sarah Augustine, co-founder and director of the Coalition to Dismantle the Doctrine of Discovery, will speak July 11 on racial reconciliation and becoming Beloved Community. Author and speaker Brian McLaren will join Curry for a morning plenary July 12 on the future of evangelism. View the schedule online.

Worship will be led by Live Hymnal and friends from across The Episcopal Church, and a special prayer space will be curated by Lilly Lewin of Free-Range Worship.

“It’s All About Love” will feature three “tents”—evangelism, creation care, and racial justice—that will host evening revival worship services, as well as daytime workshops, panels, practice opportunities, and other ways to engage.

“As we emerge from COVID, we need more of God’s love, guidance and power in order to keep becoming a church that truly looks, lives and loves like Jesus,” said the Rev. Stephanie Spellers, the presiding bishop’s canon for evangelism, reconciliation ,and creation care. “In other words, we need a revival of relationships and love. That’s what this festival is all about.”

Registration is open online. Through May 8, the cost is $185; after May 8, the cost is $225. Registration for students and seminarians is half-off. Discounted room blocks have been reserved at the Hilton Baltimore Inner Harbor, Marriott Baltimore Inner Harbor, and Renaissance Baltimore Harborplace.

Central Deanery Summer Get-together

Episcopalian Day at Four Winds Field is set for Sunday, June 25, 2023. Dean Grantz has reserved 60 field box seats (we can add more, if needed) for the 2:05 pm South Bend Cubs game against the Fort Wayne TinCaps. Tickets are $13.00 each. Payment can either be sent to the Cathedral of Saint James or made online through Givelify. Payment instructions will be sent via email when people reserve seats. Seats are not guaranteed until payment is received (so that the Cathedral is not on the hook for unused seats). The number of seats is fairly flexible until June 11, after which they will lock in a number with the Cubs office.

Reservations can be made via Google Form, emailing Joe Anand-Obleton or calling him at (574) 232-4837.

For anyone who wishes, the Cathedral will host a pregame "Bring Your Own Picnic" in our Butterfly Garden from Noon until 1:30 pm. It's an easy walk to the stadium and - best of all - parking is free at the Cathedral. Registration is not required for the picnic. Just come!

Campus Ministry Consultant

Province V has received a $20,000 development grant from The Episcopal Church Young Adult / Campus Ministry (YACM) grant fund! Look for more details as we begin the discernment and visioning process for a Province V Campus Ministry Consultant.

Summary statement of the application:

Discernment and Visioning for a Campus Ministry Consultant

Province V is in the exploration and discernment stage of creating a Campus Ministry Consultant to serve the worshipping communities across the province as they work to connect to their local higher education campuses. The Campus Ministry Consultant (CMC), a full-time employee of Province V, would help leaders of worshipping communities identify and creatively respond to new ministry opportunities at nearby campuses. Should Province V of the Episcopal Church be awarded a YACM development grant, the Province V Executive Board and Province V Coordinator intend to partner with Ministry Architects to facilitate a visioning and discernment process with the hope of vastly expanding the reach and empowerment of young adults from diverse backgrounds on campuses across the province. The province hopes to develop a full-time campus ministry consultant position at the provincial level that can bolster and support campus ministries with best practices and innovative strategies customized to each ministry's unique context. At the conclusion of the visioning process that engages existing YACM stakeholders across the province, Ministry Architects would guide the leadership to execute an implementation plan for sustainable staffing and funding to execute this vision.

Listening sessions will begin later in the summer. If you would like to be part of the conversation, please let Heather know.
