Dear Rising Tide Students and Families,
It is hard to believe that we are in the final week of the 2022-2023 school year. In this week's memo, you can see below a number of ways our students are making connections to our local region and expressing their creativity.
As we all plan for the start of the next school year, please use the links below to confirm your transportation plans for next year and register for fall sports.
We will have two early release days for all students this week, on Wednesday and Friday.

Wednesday, June 14: Middle School Field Day will be held from 7:45 am to noon.
Thursday, June 15: Grade 8 students will participate in a field trip to College Pond at Myles Standish Forest and Grade 6 students will be visiting Great Esker Park in Weymouth.
Thursday, June 15: An Eighth-Grade End-of-Year Celebration will take place at 5:30 pm in the Atrium at Rising Tide.
Friday, June 16: Last day of school. This will be an early release day; students will be dismissed at 12:00 pm.
Tuesday, June 20: The Rising Tide Board of Trustees will have its monthly meeting by video conference at 7:00 pm. This meeting is open to the public.

Families of Eighth Graders Invited to Eighth-Grade Celebration
This year, the grade eight team will be hosting an End-of-Year Celebration for the eighth graders. Families of eighth graders are invited to attend this celebration on Thursday, June 15th at 5:30 pm. There will be a ceremony with Benchmark Skills Awards and the presentation of certificates to students in celebration of their completion of 8th grade. Afterwards, we will have a small reception with cake and drinks. We hope that you can join us to help celebrate the end of your student's eighth-grade year.

Grace Hamilton Receives Outstanding Citizenship Award
Eleventh grader, Grace Hamilton, was awarded the 2023 Outstanding Citizenship Award, given by the Plymouth No Place For Hate Committee. The Plymouth No Place For Hate Committee recognizes students who are leaders in their school community and who support their peers in celebrating and understanding our visible or invisible differences. Congratulations, Grace!

Important Message from the Nurse's Office
A parent/guardian must pick up any extra medication in the Nurse's Office by 12:00 pm on June 16th. Any medication that is not picked up will be disposed of. EpiPens and inhalers can be brought home by the student if the parent/guardian sends in a note or emails Lisa Huges, the school nurse, at LHughes@Risingtide.org requesting this.

Message from the Boys and Girls Club
The Boys and Girls Club in the Plymouth Industrial Park will be closed for summer camp preparation on Thursday, June 15 and Friday, June 16.

Wildland Trust Offers Service Opportunities for Teens
Wildlands Trust, a local conservation and land stewardship organization, has several summer service days planned for students aged 14-19. These free, flexible, one-day programs will equip high school students with the basic skills and knowledge that underpin all conservation work. This is a great opportunity for students to obtain community service hours and learn new skills! Learn more here.

Upper School Yearbooks are Available for Purchase
The pre-sale of the Upper School Yearbook has ended. Yearbooks can still be purchased for $70 through MySchoolBucks, cash, or check made payable to Rising Tide Charter Public School. Yearbooks will be handed out during lunch on Wednesday for those who have pre-purchased one. Students can also bring in payment on Wednesday to buy a yearbook that day. After Wednesday, students who wish to purchase a yearbook can see Ms. Martz, Yearbook Coordinator, to receive one after payment is made. If you have any questions, please reach out to Ms. Martz at hmartz@risingtide.org.

If families need to reach us over the summer, Rising Tide will be open Monday - Thursday from 9:00 am - 2:00 pm.

Required Summer Reading
Each grade level has assigned community reading that has been chosen to promote dialogue and foster a joy of reading. Each student is expected to read, mark, and be prepared to discuss one of the books for their grade level by the beginning of school on August 30.

Registration for Fall Sports is Now Open
Students interested in trying out for a fall sport can now register here. Next fall, we will be sponsoring the following sports:
Boys' Varsity Soccer (8th-12th grade) & Middle School (6th-8th grade)
Girls' Varsity Soccer (8th-12th grade) & Middle School (6th-8th grade)
Co-Ed Golf (6th-12th grade)
Volleyball (7th-12th grade)
Boys' & Girls' Cross Country (6th-12th grade)
We will be hosting a Fall Meet-the-Coaches Night on Thursday, August 17th at 6:00 pm at RisingTide. Any student athlete interested in trying out for a fall sports should attend, along with any family members.

Applications & Passes for Bus Service for 2023-2024 School Year
Parents are reminded that applications for bus service/passes for 2023-2024 are due by the end of June.
IF YOU ARE A PLYMOUTH RESIDENT, and your child(ren) will be needing bus transportation, please download the bus application form here and send it to our office (59 Armstrong Road, Plymouth 02360) with your payment. Please note: students in grades 5 and 6 at Rising Tide, who live more than 2 miles from our campus, will ride the buses free of charge. All others are assessed a transportation fee, unless they qualify for free or discounted meals. Be sure to note the location for a.m. pick-up and p.m. drop-off, if these locations are different.
IF YOUR CHILD(REN) REQUIRE A REGIONAL BUS, please complete the Google form available through this link. All regional buses are provided free of charge. Be sure to notify us if a.m. and p.m. locations will be different based on your family’s needs. A provisional schedule of routes is available here. The final schedule, including pick-up and drop-off times and locations, will be published as soon as it is confirmed with our transportation partner, Lucini Bus Transportation. Recent Happenings At Rising Tide | |
Civics Night
Last Thursday, Rising Tide juniors hosted Civics Night for families, friends, classmates, and staff. This is an annual event that highlights the culmination of their months-long research projects in their civics and economics classes about local civic issues. The students gave impressive presentations on this year's major topics, including issues in pollution, the coastal environment, mental health, and sustainable food sources.

Celebrating Diversity
In recognition of LGBTQ Pride and Juneteenth for the month of June, students and staff decorated our cultural bulletin board located in the Wellness Suite on the middle school side of the building.

Fifth Graders Make a Learning Connection with Plymouth
Our fifth graders have been working on their Local Performance Task, putting together food webs that exist in cranberry bogs in the Plymouth area. This provides them a learning opportunity to connect to the Plymouth Region.

Creating Symmetry in Art
Fifth- and sixth-grade students in the Arts and Crafts Discovery class have been working with the concept of symmetry to create beautiful butterflies while discussing how important they are to the environment.

Breakfast and Lunch at Rising Tide: The state government has extended the eligibility for all students in our breakfast/lunch program for the 2022-2023 school year. This means that all Rising Tide students have access to one free breakfast meal and one free lunch meal each school day. Please note that students still need to walk through the cashier lines for recording purposes and will need their PIN numbers (located on the upper right hand side of their schedules) in order to do so. Rising Tide's breakfast and lunch program is catered by the Plymouth Public Schools. Check out June's lunch menu here. | |
