Poppy Project Kick Off Event
Thursday May 24 at two different times - 10am and 6:30pm
What is the Poppy Project?
We would like to introduce our Poppy Project to honor the 100th Anniversary of the First Armistice Day this November. Starting this month, we, with help from the community, will begin creating poppies out of yarn & felt. At the Kick Off, we will talk about why we are doing this project and how you can help - because this is something we just cannot do without help from the community. We will have samples of poppies already created and supplies on hand if you'd like to make a poppy right away. We will also have copies of patterns available for you to take if you'd like to make some poppies from home or with your own crafting group. Following the kick off, be on the look out for drop-in times for anyone to come in and craft a poppy for the project - all summer long and into the fall! Would you like to support this project, but don't feel especially crafty? We will be accepting donations of $1 to incorporate the name of your Veteran into this project. We will attach a ribbon with their name, branch of Military Service, and the Conflict in which they served (if applicable). Proceeds from these donations will go to a local Veteran's Group.
