President's Message

LaTashia Headshot

Greetings Nations Capital Chapter Members,

I pray that your April Financial Literacy, Easter, Ramadan, Passover, and Cherry Blossom Festivals were enlightening! The month of April was busy with a Chapter CPE Webinar, P & C Council Meetings and National IMA Trainings.

We are continuing to work with Student Chapters to afford them the opportunity of being active members of our chapter and a successful career in the field of Management Accounting.

Summer is coming and I am encouraged that you will want to continue participating in training opportunities and non-CPE meetings throughout what is normally a down season for us all.

We are still encouraging members to utilize your IMAnet page to attend any chapter CPE and non-CPE events that are listed. This is a great way to build connections and broaden our networks across the globe. We as a chapter will also be using this technology to stay connected with chapter members.

I am looking forward to seeing you all at our next non-CPE activity during the months to come.

Regards,

LaTashia

Potomac & Chesapeake Regional Council Webinars

DEI: Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Beyond Expectations

The Potomac & Chesapeake (P&C) Regional Council will host the webinar, DEI: Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Beyond Expectations on May 4, 2023, at 12:00 PM EDT.  Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) relates to many concepts and business operations. Please attend this webinar to look beyond expectations to how DEI initiatives develop and relate to goal achievement. DEI is not only an internal business process but the business philosophy, plan and subsequent assessment and reporting of organization success and vision. The concept of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) as well as Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) relate to DEI.

The social audit concept is related to DEI activities and a topic for another presentation. Our goal for this presentation is to discuss how DEI goals have been implemented for several organizations in the transportation industry, illustrating possibilities and accomplishments. Auditing ESG disclosures requires a team of auditors as well as responsibilities for stakeholders of organizations being audited. While audits of these types are, again, beyond the scope of our presentation, your attendance will provide a new view of DEI and diversity!
