BTW, the table centerpieces will be flowering plants that will be planted in our gardens on Sunday as part of our Mitzvah Day!

On Saturday May 14, our TBC family was honored and privileged to participate in a social action initiative with DIG (Determination, Integrity, Growth). DIG is a local non-for-profit organization, which brings athletic and educational opportunities to children, helping to realize the potential in every child. After a month of gathering toy and book donations from our generous TBC families, we visited Roosevelt School in Bridgeport to deliver our huge collection to children of Bridgeport. The joy in the eyes of the families was heart-warming and the “thank you’s” were endless. The experience was a gift to all those involved and we look eagerly forward to future opportunities with DIG, so we can further TBC’s social action commitment. (By Jennifer Rubin)

and Adult Education Committee

Havdalah Potluck Supper and Movie

Saturday, May 21, 6:00 pm

All are inivited to join us at TBC on Saturday May 21 at 6:00 pm for havdalah, potluck supper and a movie. TBC Sisterhood and the Adult Education Committee will come together to bid Shabbat a sweet and song-filled adieu in the courtyard, then share our favorite dishes, then head into the old sanctuary for a viewing of BROADWAY MUSICALS, A JEWISH LEGACY. This film examines the unique role of Jewish composers and lyricists in the creation of the modern American musical.

All are warmly welcome for this evening; and please let us know if you'd like to bring a guest. RSVP here and let us know what salad, side dish or dessert you plan to bring.

TBC Religious School Color War and Open House, Sunday, May 22

The Religious School will conduct a Maccabiah Color War this Sunday from 9:30-11:30 am in the TBC Main Sanctuary and and Social Hall. There will also be an open house for prospective students and parents.

TBC Film Club

Wednesday, June 8, 7:30 pm

We will meet on June 8 at 7:30 PM and discuss a movie called Shiva Baby. Click here for the Zoom link. It is available for viewing on Kanopy (using your local public library) or on Amazon Prime for rental for $2.99. You can also watch it on some HBO channels. Please let Ria Miller know if you are planning to come.

The movie is about a college student who runs into her sugar daddy and ex-girlfriend while attending a Jewish funeral service with her parents. The movie won 11 awards and 44 nominations.

The Weekly Torah Portion

B'har - בְּהַר

On Mount [Sinai]

Leviticus 25:1-26:2

God instructs Moses to tell the Israelites that in every seventh year, the land shall observe a Sabbath of complete rest. Fields should not be sown and vines should not be pruned. (25:1-7)
After forty-nine years, a jubilee year is to be celebrated when all the land that had been sold during that time should be returned to its original owners and slaves are to be freed. (25:8-55)
God instructs Moses to tell the Israelites not to make idols, to keep the Sabbath, and to venerate the sanctuary of the Eternal. (26:1-2) Click here for more information
