May is Military Appreciation Month
May is Military Appreciation Month honoring those in and out of the military. Not only do we pause on Memorial Day to remember the sacrifice and service of those who gave all, but this month also commemorates other military anniversaries and events, including Military Spouse Appreciation Day and Armed Forces Day.
As we observe this year's Memorial Day on Monday, May 30, let us remember to honor the Women and Men who lost their lives serving our great country and the Families of the Fallen. For all those in our AWF family, partners, and allies, who have served, and who continue to serve, we thank you, and we appreciate you!
Remembering
WWII Veteran 1LT Millie Bailey, 104

It is with sadness we share the news that World War II Women's Army Corps Veteran 1LT Vivian Corbette “Millie” Bailey died on Sunday, May 1st. She was 104.

Millie Bailey entered the Women’s Army Auxiliary Corps, later the Women’s Army Corps, in December 1942. During her time on active duty, she served at Fort Sam Houston, Texas, Fort McClellan, Alabama, and Fort Benning, Georgia, where she commanded the Women’s Detachment #2. 1LT Millie Bailey’s intelligence, attention to detail, and moral courage served her well, and she earned the admiration and respect of all.

Following her service in the Army, Millie moved to Chicago, where she worked for the Veterans Administration and later the Social Security Administration (SSA). Millie was a passionate volunteer, community leader, and philanthropist. Millie was a remarkable individual her whole life. She made her first parachute jump two years ago when she was 102.

We are grateful for her service, the extraordinary example she set, and the impact she had on the lives of others. May her memory be a blessing and an inspiration to all of us. To read more about 1LT Millie Bailey, go to: https://www.harrywitzkefuneralhome.com/obituary/VivianCorbettMillie-Bailey

Prudential’s support for the military and Veterans dates back to the founding of the company more than 135 years ago and remains strong today.

Veterans are returning to civilian life by the tens of thousands, eager to apply their highly refined talents in sustainable careers. We recognize that this presents a challenge: how can we best cultivate those talents for the betterment of our nation, and for the lives of those who have served us?

Prudential responded by creating its Veterans Initiatives. This program establishes not only a robust training and educational platform for Veterans but a talent pipeline for our company as well.

Prudential has proudly supported the U.S. Army Women’s Foundation since 2010. We salute the Foundation's strong educational scholarship programs and applaud the voice the Foundation lends to Army women across the nation.

By supporting outstanding organizations such as the Army Women’s Foundation, we are confident that we are helping to create a stronger network of support for this great nation’s Veterans and military personnel.

At Accenture Federal Services, our people are committed to supporting military veterans and their families.

Our people's passion for making everyday life better for veterans drives the work we do with and for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, our investment in programs to reskill and hire veterans, and the many talents contributed by our people to serve the community.

Through the work he does to recruit, train and hire veterans, Quincy D. Harper Sr. is making a difference in the lives of veterans and their families every day.

Helping veterans find employment is a personal passion for Quincy, who is former military. He connects servicepeople to reskilling programs that help veterans gain in-demand skills, creating new employment opportunities and a smoother transition to life outside the military.

In addition, Quincy mentors veterans on translating their military experience to the civilian workforce, because skills like leadership, resourcefulness and the ability to work under pressure are highly valuable assets in finding employment.
