How to Make Change in Your Union!

View this Email as a Webpage

Happening Today!

(Editor's Note: Tired of rail union officials who refuse to lead? Want your union to be more effective, take a principled stand, to stand up and fight back, to win better wages, benefits, and working condition? Are YOU ready to get involved, to help form a caucus, run for union office, and affect change in your local, General Committee, and/or national union division? Then this workshop is for you!)

How to Build an Opposition Caucus in your Union

Rank and file reform caucuses transform unions by establishing and enacting a new vision for the union. The recent contract fights and wins in the Teamsters and the UAW would not have been possible without Teamsters for a Democratic Union and Unite All Workers for Democracy in the UAW. Reform caucuses show union members what is possible within democratic, transparent, militant union organizing. But how do we get there? Where do we start?

This workshop is for union members who are looking to transform their union, but uncertain of how to get started. We will hear from caucus leaders from The Caucus of Working Educators (UFT) in Philadelphia, UAWD in the UAW, and the Caucus of Rank and File Entertainment Workers (IATSE). They will be talking about how caucus members found each other, grew their core, and decided to form a caucus.

There will be time for participants to ask question and workshop issues their caucus is facing.
