Winter Holiday Fun

Please note the PJ day on the first day of spirit week is a Student Council fundraiser and requires a $1 donation to participate. The activities for the rest of the week do not require a donation.

Managing Holiday Stress for Families

As we approach the holidays, many of us look forward to spending time with family and friends. Sharing in the joys of the season is a favorite pastime for most of us to experience, along with a break from school and work. However, for some, the holiday season can potentially bring up difficult and anxious feelings. At this time of year, we may often think about loved ones not with us, how to finance the gifts and experiences we want to give our family, how to “make the rounds,” how to survive hours in the car with small children, and the list seems to go on indefinitely.

In fact, a recent poll conducted by the American Psychological Association (APA) concluded that approximately 8 out of 10 Americans anticipate stress and anxiousness during the holiday season, and roughly half of that number actually pertains to children. We all know that children learn what they see, so if they see the adults in their lives stressed out, they will be too. Therefore, it is important to find ways to cope with our own holiday anxiety, knowing that the less holiday stress we feel, the more relaxed the children around us will be during this time of year. As such, please feel free to check out this practical article from Family First Pediatrics on ways to help minimize the stress we may all feel during this holiday season. May you all have a wonderful, safe, and happy holiday!

2024 Spelling Bee

Today students in grades 4-8 were given their classroom spelling bee lists to take home to practice for their classroom bees, which will take place the week before winter break. The top spellers in the classroom bees will go on to represent their classes in the school bee in January. Good luck, spellers!

News from the Library

The pre-schoolers were in the library last week to celebrate DiNo-Vember! We read the story What the Dinosaurs Did Last Night, and then each student adopted a dinosaur friend to "set loose' in the library; for being so small, those dinosaurs caused a lot of mischief!

News from Kindergarten

In kindergarten this week we made jester hats for the letter “J”. These little jokers were pretty silly and full of jokes to share! Why did the dog go to school? Because he was the teacher's pet!

Parent Volunteer Needed

We are looking for a parent volunteer to serve on the calendar committee to develop the 2024-2025 school calendar. The committee generally meets once or twice for about an hour after school (work schedules can be accommodated) in January. One parent will be selected randomly from the pool of volunteers. If you are interested, please contact Jocelyn Young by email or phone (603-942-5488).

Calendar Raffle

The 8th grade advisory team is putting together a Calendar Raffle fundraiser to raise money for their trip to Boston this spring. The Calendars will go on sale Monday, December 4th. The last day to purchase one is Wednesday, December 20th. Calendars are $15 a piece and each calendar will give you 31 chances to win a prize including our $500 grand prize. Thank you in advance for supporting the 8th grade class!
