Run Together ~ by Tessa Burns
Acrylic on mixed media

Draw me after you; let us run.
The king has brought me into his chambers.
We will exult and rejoice in you;
we will extol your love more than wine;
rightly do they love you.

Song of Solomon 1:4

~ Come Away ~
Week 3
We use our senses to perceive our world, it is how we take it in and interpret all that is around us and within us. These senses are gifts given by our Creator to participate in the great wonderful world around us. With that, we learn what we like, love, appreciate, and want. Draw me after you; let us run. The NIV says Take me away with you – let us hurry! There’s no time to waste, I’ve figured out what I want, and now is the time to make it happen.

The king brought me into his chambers. These chambers were private, intimate, the innermost part. Each of our coming-to-know Christ stories is unique. For some, our relationship comes in like gangbusters, we’re overtaken by incredible zeal and indescribable passion. Some have a more slow and steady realization and acceptance of salvation; Like the dawn breaking the night, subtly, beautifully; And anywhere in between, from dire straights to a simple reception. Wherever our stories began on this journey with Jesus, there came a time when the light shown and our hearts cried, “Draw me after You”.

We long to know Him more, to understand Him (at least as much as our feeble minds can comprehend). We want to be in the secret place, the innermost chamber with Him. And that is where He longs to bring us. The king has brought me into His chambers. I am a child of God. He has offered so great a salvation through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus, our Savior. And all we had to do was receive it by faith. At that moment, whether fireworks and fanfare or quiet consciousness, we enter, into the family of God, into His inner chambers. We find where we belong.

How can we not enter in with each other and exult and rejoice in Him? His love is better than wine. His drawing us in ignites our hearts, comforts our souls, and warms our spirits. We are met with compassion, admiration, and desire. We find a place to land, a place of belonging, a place where our deepest needs and longings are fulfilled. It is only right, to love Him.

Prayer:
Father, draw me after You. Let us run together. Help me comprehend the height, depth, width, and length of the love You have for me. Let my response be one of gratitude, exaltation, and rejoicing. Thank You, You see and know my deepest needs and respond out of Your great love. Thank You for providing a safe place for me to land, through Jesus who has given so great a salvation. Thank You, I belong.

This summer's challenge: sit quietly (or go on a walk) in His presence for five minutes each day. No agenda, no need to say anything, just sit (or walk) with Him in silence and see what He might stir in your heart. I am challenging myself to do the same. We just might find hidden treasure in the process.
