Celebrating Pride Month 2023
Pride Month is an annual celebration of the many contributions made by the LGBTQ+ community to history, medicine, and cultures worldwide. Pride is celebrated throughout June each year in many places to commemorate its roots in the Stonewall Riots of June 1969. In time, that celebration became known as the Gay Pride Parade. Over the years, gay pride events have spread from large cities to smaller towns and villages worldwide. Today, gay pride parades in many cities are enormous celebrations: Sao Paulo, Sydney, New York City, Madrid, Taipei, and Toronto routinely attract up to 5 million attendees.

June is Men’s Health Month
In the U.S., men are expected to live six years less than women. Many diseases that primarily impact men are preventable by having regular doctor’s visits and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. That’s why during June, Men’s Health Month works to encourage boys and men to take charge of their health so that they can live long, healthy, and happy lives. One major way men can increase their life expectancy is by finding healthy outlets to relieve stress. Many men feel pressured to hide their emotions. Some simple ways to reduce stress and anxiety include taking deep breaths throughout the day, meditating, walking, laughing with friends (or at a funny video), listening to music, and getting at least six to eight hours of sleep. Learn more about Men’s Health Month.
