Memorial Day always marks the unofficial start of summer in the Northwoods, and aren't we glad to see it after the long, long winter we had! The library is now on our summer hours: we're open until 7pm Monday through Thursday, 5pm on Friday, and 9 to noon on Saturday. Stop in and see us soon!
Many thanks to all of you who donated books to our book sale. We're scheduled to hold another sale during Loon Week but we don't have many books left, so if you're cleaning out the house or cabin this summer, please consider donating your books to the library. Guidelines for what we'll accept are on our website.
You probably received our annual Friends of the Library membership mailing recently. Thank you to all of you who have already renewed your memberships! The Friends fund all of our special programming and many of our building and grounds improvements, and we're so grateful for your donations. If you didn't get a membership mailing, stop by the library and ask about becoming a Friend!
We'll be hosting kids programs at the library every week, kicking off with "Living the Pollinator Life" - a program with the traveling naturalists from the Discovery Center on Thursday, June 23 at 11:00 a.m. Watch for our mid-June newsletter, which will contain a full schedule of summer kids events. Don't worry, adults; we're planning some fun programs for you this summer, too.
Happy reading!

Geology for Tourists -- TOMORROW 6/3 at 10am
Our Northwoods land of lakes is the result of billions of years of geological processes. Sometimes incredibly violent, these geological actions have left evidence in plain sight. In fact, geologists from around the world come here to study.
In Geology for Tourists, you will learn about the processes of geological cycles and about the main types of rock and formations which give evidence of our violent geological past. Join us for a FREE presentation at the Mercer Community Center with Richard Thiede on Friday, June 3 at 10:00 AM.
This event is sponsored by the Mercer Public Library and Fe University. For more information, visit our website.

The station should be installed this week, and we're going to celebrate with a ribbon cutting on Tuesday, June 14 at 11:00 AM. All are welcome to join us!
