MastiCon 2023

Saturday, 5/6, 12:00 - 4:00 PM

MasticCon is back for its 3rd year. Join us at the new Moriches Branch on Saturday, May 6th, as we show our love of anime, cosplay, manga, and comics. We’ll have your favorite characters, arts and crafts for all ages, a dragon egg hunt, vendor sales, and more! Costumes are encouraged.

Sensory Story Walk @ Mastic Beach & Moriches 

Monday, 5/1 - 5/4, check calendar for times and locations 

Celebrate Children’s Book Week with an interactive Story Walk celebrating the classic book, The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle! Read the story and visit the sensory stations! Fun for the whole family! Families with at least one child grade 6 or younger. No registration required. Drop-In!

Explore sensory activities with your baby! Please bring a blanket for your baby to lay on. Children birth - pre-walking w/ an adult. No older siblings.

'On the Road' Messy Meetups @ Southaven Park

Come explore the “Forest School” trend with your family. Messy Meetups is an outdoor all-weather program designed to expose families to the concept of child-directed messy outdoor play, and to meet other families with young children who also love to be outside! Families w/ at least one child ages 2-6.

Captain America Paint Party @ Moriches

Get creative! Unleash your inner artist and join us for a fun Captain America Paint Party at MastiCon! Go home with your finished painting. No experience necessary. Grades 2-6.

Battle of the Books Interest Meeting @ Mastic Beach

Do you have an interest in reading and trivia? Battle of the Books is a county-wide competition for teens entering grades 6 through 9. We will compete with other Suffolk County libraries in August. Attend this meeting for more information.

Rock Painting @ Mastic Beach

Monday, 5/1, 5:00 - 6:00 PM

Use paints, dotting tools, and paint markers to create original designs for your garden or flower pots, or to spread some love in the community. One community service hour is available.

Candy Land Decorations @ Mastic Beach

Monday, 5/1, 6:00 - 7:00 PM

Sign up to make decorations for the Children’s Department’s Life-Size Candy Land program. One hour of community service will be awarded.

Help With Everyday Problems @ Mastic Beach

A Case Manager from Colonial Youth and Family Services can assist patrons with issues relating to housing, insurance, food stamps, emergency services and other advocacy resources and referrals.  Appointments required. 

Crochet & Knit Group @ Mastic Rec

Wednesday, 5/3, 1:30 - 2:30 PM

All skill levels are welcome! Crochet/Knit instructor Corrine can assist you with an existing project or help you get started on a new one. No formal instruction will be given but general knowledge will be shared. Bring your own 4 ply yarn and appropriate crochet hooks or knitting needles. Open to all!

Build a Desktop Fountain @ Mastic Beach

Tuesday, 5/16, 7:00 – 8:30 PM  



Join Mechanical Engineer, Jonathon Greene and learn how to build your own 3D printed desktop water fountain from a provided kit.  The fountain is USB powered and can even be plugged in directly to your computer.  Materials fee: $20.00 (non-refundable).
