Our last research plot was planted yesterday, calving is nearly done, cattle are turned out on pasture, and the horticulture area is boasting with beauty. Having said that, field days will be here before we know it.  The Dickinson Research Extension Center field days will be July 12 and 13. The tours will showcase what we’re up to and bring experts out here to share their knowledge. We have something for everyone!

The ranch headquarters near Manning will host a livestock tour on July 12 from 9am to noon. Topics include: G.P.S. ear tags, rangeland nitrogen cycle, genetics research, forage nitrates, and heifer development. This wagon tour will showcase our integrated livestock/cropping system work and native pasture. Lunch will be provided following the tour.

On July 13 from 9am to noon, the Dickinson office will host a horticulture tour. Attendees will learn about pollinator gardens, emerald ash borer, soil testing, and composting. This is a walking tour where we will take a lap around the main walking path. A courtesy shuttle will be available. Lunch is provided after the tour.

Following lunch on July 13 at 1:30pm, we will have an agronomy tour at the Dickinson main office. Topics of this tour will include western North Dakota soybean breeding, soybean phosphorus management, palmer amaranth, sunflower seed weevil, and liming acid soil. The agronomy tour will conclude before 5pm.

We are excited to share with you our impactful work. If you have questions, need accommodations, or ideas, please don’t hesitate to contact me. My email is chris.augustin@ndsu.edu and phone number is 701-456-1100. I look forward to seeing you at one of our field day tours! We will be sending more information as July 12 and 13 approaches.
