miSci Presents Big Bang "Summer of '69" Gala on May 6, 6 to 9 p.m.

Event Includes Silent Auction and Celebrates the Opening of the Exhibit Be the Astronaut

Schenectady, NY (March 24, 2022) – On Friday evening, May 6, 2022, the Museum of Innovation and Science (miSci) Board of Trustees will host its annual Big Bang Gala. This year's event is based on the theme Summer of '69, a nod to the major exhibit Be the Astronaut that will open on May 7. The exhibit explores the challenges and excitement of spaceflight and takes visitors on a journey to the Moon, Jupiter, and Mars.

“We are thrilled that miSci's Big Bang Gala will return after a two-year hiatus,” said miSci President Gina Gould. “The support we receive through the Gala is invaluable to the Museum's mission and programs. We look forward to welcoming our guests and long-time supporters who make it possible for miSci to deliver its educational programs and offer changing exhibitions that inspire people of all ages to know more about science and technology.”

The Gala's fundraising efforts help support educational programs and other services provided by the Museum. This includes the Jane Golub STEM Fund that contributes funding to Capital Region schools for programs and Break Week Classes; Museums for All that provides underserved Capital Region families with free memberships to miSci; SenseAble Science, an upcoming program that will present STEAM experiences for neurodiverse individuals; and the Museum's Exhibitions Program that shares the past, present, and future of innovation with the public through fun and educational interactive exhibits.

Doors to the Gala will open at 6 p.m. with a cocktail hour and Silent Auction that will feature novel experiences and opportunities to provide underserved children with family memberships and scholarships for Break Week Classes. Following cocktails, dinner will be provided by local purveyors of mobile cuisine including Iron Works Grill and Greek on the Run. Entertainment will be provided by The Carla Page Traveling Show Band and libations by Frog Alley Brewing.

Single tickets to the Gala are $175, and $125 for young professionals age 40 and under. Tickets are also available in groups of 10 or 20.
